WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 20, 2021) --- In the second day of the Diamond City Invitational, the King's College women's swimming team continued to make its presence felt in the pool.
Session II
The Monarchs began the second session this morning in the 200 free relay. The 'A' team of
Madison Modugno,
Jamie Navarro,
Corinne Smith, and
Maddison Quick placed fourth out of 14 teams with a time of 1:46.32.
The next event of the day was the 500 free, which saw
Kiera Booth win her heat and take fourth place overall out of 25 competitors. Booth improved on her seed time by nearly 20 seconds. Junior
Sarah Fleisher notched ninth place in the event for KC at 5:46.50. The duo combined to earn 46 points for the squad.
In the 200 IM, Navarro swam to victory in her heat, while claiming third overall at 2:22.05.
Emilia Serafin clocked in at 2:26.51 to earn eighth out of 26 swimmers.
The 50 free saw Quick place seventh out of 39 competitors with a swim of 26.34. In the final event of the second session, King's earned fourth in the 400 medley relay with the 'A' squad of Kate Duffy, Navarro, Smith, and Quick booking a 4:20.93.
Session III
Today's evening session started with the 400 IM where Fleisher earned her second top-ten finish of the day, placing fifth at 5:13.07.
Quick continued to elevate her squad in the 200 free, notching third place overall at 2:05.42. Booth joined Quick in the top-five, place fifth with a swim of 2:07.94.
Navarro earned the Monarchs 26 points in the 100 breaststroke where she place fourth overall out of a 23 person field. Kate Duffy followed up with a fourth place finish of her own in the 100 backstroke, trimming nearly five second off her seed time at 1:02.94.
King's wrapped up the day with a third place finish in the 800 free relay, as Quick, Navarro, Booth, and Fleisher team up to swim a time of 8:45.91.
The Monarchs currently sit in third place overall with 702 points, trailing only SUNY Oneonta (734) and Bridgewater (1141).
The fourth and final session will take place tomorrow morning at 10:00 am.
