Women Earn Highest Team Finish; Four Medals Earned on Day Two of MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships

READING, PA (February 24, 2024) -- The King's College women's indoor track and field team achieved their highest finish as a program, placing fifth overall with 53 points to highlight action on day two of the 2024 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships. The men placed 14th with 22 points, while four Monarchs earned medals at Alvernia University's PLEX.
 
On the Track
200 Meter Dash

Andrew Novrocki achieved another podium finish on Saturday, taking sixth in the event in 22.72 seconds. Kyle Dunbar of DeSales won the event in 22.11 seconds.
 
Juliet Brady and Abigail Springer finished neck-and-neck in the event, with Brady crossing in 28.22 seconds and Springer posting a time of 28.24 seconds. Laura Mathews of Stevens won the event in a meet-record time of 24.96 seconds.
 
400 Meter Dash
Andrew Novrocki brought home the silver medal in the event, finishing in 50.10 seconds. Samuel Knowles of Widener won the event in 49.04 seconds.
 
Ava Butcher was the top Monarch finisher, placing 11th overall in 1:03.38, while Laura Dainauski recorded a finish in 1:04.69. Widener's Kelly Barr won the event in 59.65 seconds.
 
60 Meter Hurdles
Victoria Zultevicz had her third podium finish in the weekend as she placed seventh in the finals heat of the 60 meter hurdles in 9.85 seconds. Laura Mathews of Stevens won the event in 8.60 seconds.
 
4x400 Meter Relay
Abigail Springer, Nicole Zambetti, Laura Dainauski, and Ava Butcher placed ninth overall in 4:21.63. The team from Lebanon Valley won the event in 4:06.93.
 
4x800 Meter Relay
The women's team of Zoe Tomko, Julia Johnson, Liz Porto, and Mikaela Majcher finished in 10:36.48, earning a spot on the podium with a seventh-place finish. Misericordia won the relay in 9:41.54.
 
In the Field
High Jump

Jordan Rife finished the event 12th overall as he cleared a height of 1.73 meters. Widener's Matayo McGraw won the event as he recorded a mark of 1.92 meters.
 
Madison Armitage placed fourth in the event with a new program-record height of 1.55 meters. Caroline Tighe of Stevens won the event with a mark of 1.61 meters.
 
Pole Vault
Travis Lane secured another podium finish for the weekend, claiming sixth-place in the pole vault with a height of 3.75 meters. Ayden Stankus of Lebanon Valley won the event as he cleared a height of 4.43 meters.
 
Triple Jump
James Holzschuh finished with a mark of 12.31 meters on his second attempt in the event. Widener's Matayo McGraw won the event with a jump of 14.42 meters.
 
Madelynn Perfilio finished 11th overall with a mark of 10.00 meters on her third try. Alvernia's Shinelle Felix won the event with a meet-record jump of 12.22 meters.
 
Shot Put
Carnell Kemp led a trio of Monarchs in the event with a mark of 12.99 meters on his third attempt, while Jacob Martinez was right behind with a personal best throw of 12.69 meters on his first toss. Jet Li Tang rounded out the group with a toss of 11.35 meters on his third throw. York (Pa.)'s Andrew Mott won the event with a mark of 16.76 meters.
 
Brandy Varner collected the silver medal in the event, recording a personal best mark of 12.66 meters on her sixth and final attempt, while Delaney Hilferty also achieved podium status with a fourth-place finish and a personal best throw of 11.67 meters on her final toss. King's then had its remaining three throwers finish in succession, with Sophia Lukowski placing 11th with a personal best mark of 10.29 meters, Roni McClelland taking 12th with a throw of 10.17 meters, and Caitlin Kirk claiming 13th at 10.15 meters, all on their second attempts. Kayla Robinson of Widener won the event with a mark of 13.39 meters.
 
Multis
Heptathlon

Travis Lane wrapped up the heptathlon with a silver medal finish with 4,218 points. He began the second day's events with a fifth-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles in a personal best time of 9.64 seconds, then followed that effort with a second-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.70 meters. Lane won the 1,000 meter run to wrap up the events in 2:53.15. Brandon Keifer of Stevens won the heptathlon with 4,386 points.
 
Pentathlon
Victoria Zultevicz collected the bronze medal in the event with 2,641 points in the pentathlon. She began the day with a first-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.77 seconds before taking sixth in the high jump as she cleared a height of 1.36 meters. The shot put saw Zultevicz place third with a personal best mark of 9.23 meters on her third toss before taking sixth in the long jump with a mark of 4.73 meters on her second attempt. The junior completed the pentathlon with a fourth-place finish in the 800 meter run in 2:51.43. Kayla Robinson of Widener won the event with 3,143 points.
 
King's will begin preparations for their last chance meet next weekend with the hopes of earning qualifying marks for the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet from March 8-9 in Virginia Beach.
