Armitage, Kirk, Shoemaker Win Events on Final Day of River Hawk Multi and Invitational

SELINSGROVE, PA (April 14, 2024) -- Madison Armitage, Caitlin Kirk, and Katey Shoemaker all won their respective events to highlight the action for the King's College outdoor track and field team on the final day of Susquehanna's River Hawk Multi and Invitational.
 
On the Track
100 Meter Dash

Jacob Mullery earned a spot in the finals as he took fourth in the preliminary heats in 11.08 seconds, while John Babinsky ran a time of 12.88 seconds. Marywood's Nolan Kozera ran a preliminary-best time of 10.92 seconds.
 
Mullery finished seventh in the finals as he ran a personal best time of 11.22 seconds. Nolan Kozera won the finals heat as well in 10.96 seconds.
 
Juliet Brady qualified for the finals as she placed fifth in the preliminary heats in 13.15 seconds, while Lara McGlynn made her collegiate debut with a time of 14.25 seconds. Grace Kane of Delaware Valley posted the top time in the opening heats in 12.74 seconds.
 
Brady then improved on her standing in the finals as she placed third in 13.04 seconds. Grace Kane maintained her status to win the event in 12.67 seconds.
 
200 Meter Dash
Jacob Mullery placed ninth overall in 22.95 seconds, while John Babinsky recorded a time of 26.55 seconds. Mason Winslow of Susquehanna was the top finisher in 22.00 seconds.
 
Juliet Brady had a podium finish in the event as she placed sixth in 26.98 seconds. Laura Dainauski was next to place in 27.76 seconds, while Ava Butcher was right behind in 27.88 seconds. Nicole Zambetti ran a time of 28.15 seconds, and Lara McGlynn rounded out the King's runners in 30.30 seconds. Ava Butler of Ithaca won the event in 25.82 seconds.
 
400 Meter Dash
Travis Lane ran a time of 56.16 seconds in the 400 meter dash. Host Susquehanna's Mason Winslow was the top finisher in 51.02 seconds.
 
Laura Dainauski finished fourth overall in 1:03.70, while Ava Butcher was right behind in fifth with a time of 1:04.05. Payton Smith of the Penn State Track and Field Club won the event in 58.63 seconds.
 
800 Meter Run
Liz Porto led a pair of Monarchs in the event as she ran a time of 2:51.79, while Mara Ryan crossed in 3:24.02. Victoria Urbaez of Susquehanna posted the top time in 2:26.45.
 
1,500 Meter Run
Eric Johnson was the lone Monarch in the event as she recorded a time of 4:44.27. Ben Buffone of Ithaca was the top finisher in 4:12.35.
 
Cecilia Chipriano placed 12th in the field of 22 as she posted a time of 5:47.48, while Mara Ryan finished in 6:44.06. Ithaca's Jessica Goode took first in the event in 4:58.39.
 
5,000 Meter Run
The King's trio claimed second, third, and fourth place in the event led by Zoe Tomko who crossed in 19:33.70. Mikaela Majcher was next to cross in a personal best time of 20:19.97, and Julia Johnson rounded out the event in 20:33.32. Delaware Valley's Alyssa Blackmon won the race in 19:18.13.
 
In the Field
High Jump

Cody Miller finished fifth in the event as he cleared a height of 1.79 meters, while Patrick Bennie claimed eighth with a height of 1.64 meters. Bryce Ellinger of Susquehanna was the top finisher as he cleared the 2.00 meter mark.
 
Madison Armitage won the event with a height of 1.57 meters.
 
Long Jump
Cody Miller placed third overall with a personal best jump of 6.16 meters on his fifth attempt, while James Holzschuh claimed seventh with a mark of 5.71 meters. Susquehanna's Austin Hurrell won the event with a jump of 6.73 meters.
 
Triple Jump
Cody Miller took second in the event with a jump of 12.63 meters on his fourth try, while Patrick Bennie took seventh with a mark of 11.87 meters. James Holzschuh rounded out the King's jumpers with a mark of 11.54 meters. Edward Grill of the Penn State Track and Field Club had the top mark of 12.83 meters.
 
Discus Throw
Carnell Kemp finished third overall with a toss of 41.15 meters on his fifth attempt, while Josh Brown placed eighth with a throw of 35.88 meters on his third try. Travis Lane was next to finish with a mark of 33.04 meters, while Jacob Martinez had a personal best throw of 30.97 meters. Jev Brauer with a mark of 27.22 meters and Jet Li Tang with a toss of 24.78 meters rounded out the event for the Monarchs. Penn State Track and Field Club's Mitchell Maher won the event with a throw of 46.14 meters.
 
Caitlin Kirk won the event with a throw of 34.06 meters on her second attempt, while Katey Shoemaker placed third with a toss of 32.37 meters on her second try. Rhian Crowley finished fourth with a personal best mark of 32.21 meters on her fifth throw, and Issy Lebrun took 13th with a throw of 24.56 meters. Dianna Duncan rounded out the Monarch throwers with a toss of 22.25 meters.
 
Javelin Throw
Travis Lane placed fourth with a personal best toss of 48.26 meters on his sixth and final attempt. Bloomsburg's Matthew Whitaker was the top finisher with a mark of 57.02 meters.
 
Katey Shoemaker won the event with a throw of 37.63 meters on her fourth attempt, while Issy Lebrun placed ninth with a toss of 21.25 meters on her first try. Dianna Duncan finished out the event for King's with a mark of 16.14 meters.

King's will return to action next weekend as they are set to compete in the Misericordia Invitational on Friday, April 19 before heading to Chester, Pa. for the Widener Invitational on Saturday, April 20.
