Miller's Program-Record Paces King's Men at Misericordia Invitational

DALLAS, PA (April 19, 2024) -- Cody Miller repeated his performance from his last trip to Misericordia, topping his program-record mark in the triple jump to lead an exciting Friday night for the King's College men's outdoor track and field team at the Misericordia Invitational.
 
On the Track
100 Meter Dash

Jacob Mullery led a trio of Monarchs as he finished third in 11.28 seconds. Travis Lane placed second in his heat and eighth overall in 11.80 seconds, while Jordan Rife crossed in 12.10 seconds. Jarod Cipriano of Misericordia was the top finisher in 11.00 seconds.
 
200 Meter Dash
Jacob Mullery took fourth overall, crossing in a personal best time of 23.34 seconds, while John Babinsky finished in 27.66 seconds. Jacob Hunter of Misericordia won the event in 22.42 seconds.
 
800 Meter Run
Aidan Kraus paced a pair of Monarchs as he finished third overall in his collegiate debut, crossing in 2:07.24, while Eric Johnson placed sixth in a personal best time of 2:13.86. Misericordia's Tavian McKenna was the top finisher in 2:03.26.
 
1,500 Meter Run
Logan Taylor was the lone Monarch in the event, and he finished fifth overall in 4:38.51. Misericordia's Thomas Bricker won the event in 4:09.91.
 
4x100 Meter Relay
The King's men's team placed second overall as Jacob Mullery, Cody Miller, Andrew Novrocki, and Jordan Rife crossed in 44.48 seconds. Misericordia's team won the event in 42.86 seconds.
 
In the Field
High Jump

Teone Sherrod made his spring debut and took first as he cleared a height of 1.87 meters. Patrick Bennie finished Jordan Rife claimed second and third, respectively, as the pair finished with a mark of 1.72 meters.
 
Long Jump
Cody Miller placed fifth overall to lead three Monarchs in the event with a mark of 6.06 meters, while James Holzschuh finished seventh with a personal best jump of 5.98 meters. Ameen Jabbar won his heat with a jump of 5.70 meters on his second attempt and finished 10th overall. Misericordia's Matthieu Brunell won the event with a mark of 6.72 meters.
 
Triple Jump
Cody Miller won the event with a program-record mark of 13.54 meters on his sixth and final attempt, surpassing his previous program-record of 12.76 meters set at the Misericordia Twilight Meet, while Patrick Bennie took third with a jump of 12.20 meters.
 
Pole Vault
John Babinsky won the pole vault as he cleared a personal best height of 2.65 meters.
 
Discus Throw
The Monarchs swept the top three spots again behind Carnell Kemp's winning mark of 44.13 meters. Jacob Martinez took second with a personal best throw of 38.60 meters, and Josh Brown claimed third with a personal best toss of 37.34 meters. Jev Brauer finished seventh overall as he recorded a personal best mark of 31.51 meters, and Jet Li Tang claimed the final spot on the podium in eighth with a personal best throw of 30.96 meters.
 
Hammer Throw
Jet Li Tang took third in the event with a toss of 38.74 meters on his second attempt, while Jacob Martinez placed fourth with a personal best mark of 37.10 meters on his second try. Misericordia's Stephen Gihr posted the top mark at 51.22 meters.
 
Shot Put
King's swept the top three spots in the event as Carnell Kemp won with a throw of 12.97 meters. Jacob Martinez took second with a personal best mark of 12.89 meters, and Jet Li Tang placed third with a personal best toss of 12.28 meters. Patrick Bennie finished on the podium in seventh with a throw of 11.15 meters, and Travis Lane rounded out podium finishers in eighth with a toss of 10.64 meters. Josh Brown posted a mark of 8.79 meters, and Jev Brauer rounded out the event for the Monarchs with a throw of 8.69 meters.

Several of our Monarchs are also set to compete this weekend at the Paul Donahue Invitational hosted by Widener University. Action is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. in Chester, Pa.
