Novrocki Shatters Three 200 Meter Records to Lead Men's Track and Field at Monarch Open

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 27, 2024) -- Andrew Novrocki shattered three records in the 200 meter dash to lead a great day of track and field action for the King's College men's track and field team at their own Monarch Open. The Monarchs won five events, finished in the top three 14 times, and set five personal best marks.
 
On the Track
100 Meter Dash

Jacob Mullery placed third overall in 11.48 seconds, while Josh Brown took 12th in 12.86 seconds. John Babinsky rounded out the trio of Monarchs in the event in 13.35 seconds. Richard Billings of Misericordia won the event in 11.18 seconds.
 
200 Meter Dash
Andrew Novrocki and Jacob Mullery claimed the first two spots as Novrocki won the event in a program, Monarch Open, and Betzler Complex record time of 22.18 seconds and Mullery crossed in a personal best 23.06 seconds.
 
400 Meter Dash
Owen Foytack finished third overall in 52.52 seconds. Misericordia's Nathan Horn was the top finisher in 51.81 seconds.
 
800 Meter Run
Eric Johnson and Logan Taylor finished back-to-back in the race as Johnson posted a personal best time of 2:13.81, and Taylor finished in 2:16.14. Caleb Stephen of Stevens topped the field in 2:02.54.
 
110 Meter Hurdles
Travis Lane took second in the event as he ran a time of 18.44 seconds. Arcadia's Justin Soto won the event in 18.36 seconds.
 
In the Field
High Jump

Patrick Benie finished fifth to lead King's, clearing a height of 1.77 meters, while Jordan Rife placed eighth with a mark of 1.67 meters. Travis Lane rounded out the event for the Monarchs with a height of 1.62 meters. Unattached competitor Noah Grimm won the event with a mark of 1.88 meters.
 
Long Jump
Cody Miller took first in the long jump with a mark of 6.28 meters, while James Holzschuh finished second with a jump of 5.73 meters.

Pole Vault
John Babinsky finished fourth overall as he cleared a height of 2.65 meters. Christopher Persico and Kyle Miller of Stevens won the event with a height of 3.72 meters.
 
Triple Jump
Patrick Bennie won the triple jump with a mark of 12.25 meters, while James Holzschuh placed second with a jump of 11.26 meters.
 
Discus Throw
King's claimed the top three spots in the event, led by Carnell Kemp with the win on a throw of 41.56 meters. Jacob Martinez took second with a toss of 38.28 meters, and Josh Brown claimed third with a personal best mark of 38.00 meters. Jev Brauer recorded a throw of 26.15 meters, while Jet Li Tang wrapped up the event for the Monarchs with a toss of 23.28 meters.
 
Hammer Throw
Jet Li Tang placed second overall with a toss of 41.17 meters, while Jacob Martinez finished fifth with a mark of 33.81 meters. Stephen Gihr of Misericordia won the event with a throw of 50.5 meters.
 
Javelin Throw
Cody Miller finished fourth overall with a mark of 38.46 meters, while Jet Li Tang had a toss of 19.62 meters. Arcadia's Robert Carter won the event with a throw of 44.80 meters.
 
Shot Put
Jacob Martinez and Patrick Bennie claimed the first two spots in the event, led by Martinez in first with a mark of 12.21 meters and Bennie took second with a throw of 11.26 meters. Jet Li Tang finished sixth with a toss of 10.87 meters, while Josh Brown (9.69 meters) and Jev Brauer with a personal best mark of 9.33 meters wrapped up the shot put for King's.

King's sets its sights on the 2024 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, beginning Thursday, May 2 at Widener University.
