NEWTOWN, PA (July 8, 2024) -- On Monday afternoon, the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) office announced this year's Academic All-MAC teams for winter sports. Among this winter's honorees were four from King's College, including men's ice hockey junior Ethan Hersant, women's ice hockey senior Aspen Wallin, men's indoor track and field junior Andrew Novrocki, and women's indoor track and field sophomore Katey Shoemaker.

A total of 94 student-athletes from nine winter sports were recognized. The Winter Academic All-MAC teams recognize the top student-athletes both in the classroom and in athletic competition during the 2024 spring semester. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote on the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a spring semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.

Hersant becomes just the sixth Monarch to earn Academic All-MAC recognition in his first season at King's. He collected All-MAC Second Team honors to go along with three MAC Offensive Player of the Week nods as the forward skated in all 26 games and led the team with 27 points and 15 goals while adding 12 assists off 62 shots. The Victoria, British Columiba native also set the program record for both points and goals in a single season to add to the team's single-season wins record in 2023-24. An English major, Hersant also earned MAC Academic Honor Roll, UCHC All-Academic Team, and CSC Academic All-District recognitions this season.

Wallin adds to her list of post-season accolades with her first recognition on the Academic All-MAC team. The senior was named to the All-MAC Second Team as she skated in 25 out of the 26 games, totaling 11 points of three goals and a team-leading eight assists with 14 blocks. On the ice, she also set a single-game record for short handed goals with her pair in the 4-2 win over Neumann while aiding the Monarchs to a new single-season wins record in 2023-24. An accounting major, Wallin becomes the program's fifth Academic All-MAC recipient to add to her MAC Academic Honor Roll and UCHC All-Academic Team bids this year.

Novrocki earns his second Academic All-MAC honors and the program's fifth nod for the indoor track and field season after picking up the accolade in 2022-23. The junior collected his second consecutive USTFCCCA All-Region honor in the 400 meter dash as well as the silver medal in the event at the 2024 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. In six meets, the Larksville, Pa. native set a new indoor program record in the 200 meter dash and ran the anchor leg of the Distance Medley Relay that holds the new indoor program record. An elementary and special education major, Novrocki adds to his list of accolades as he was also honored on the MAC Academic Honor Roll and CSC Academic All-District teams this winter.

Shoemaker is the third individual to earn the Academic All-MAC accolade for the Monarch indoor track and field program, joining Jill Korgeski, who collected the honor three times, and Marissa Durako, and she is also the first King's student-athlete recognized since the 2018-19 indoor season. A USTFCCCA All-Region honoree and gold medalist in the weight throw, Shoemaker also holds the program indoor record in the event as the sophomore competed in five meets this season. An early elementary education major, the Coopersburg, Pa. product also appeared on the MAC Academic Honor Roll and CSC Academic All-District teams this indoor season.
