Men's Track and Field Competes at Alvernia's PLEX Shootout

READING, PA (February 1, 2025) -- The King's College men's indoor track and field programs saw three new personal best marks on Saturday at Alvernia's PLEX Shootout.
 
On the Track
60 Meter Dash

Josh Malone was the top finisher for King's, crossing in 7.48 seconds, while Joeperun Giles recorded a time of 8.33 seconds. Damian Simpson from West Chester was the top finisher in the preliminary heats in 6.93 seconds.
 
400 Meter Dash
Tyler Petty finished 17th out of 35 runners in 55.59 seconds. Trevor Richwine of Dickinson was the top finisher in 50.84 seconds.

800 Meter Run
Preston Klem paced King's in the race as he took 13th out of 54 competitors in 2:03.85. Daniel Jutras of Stevens was the top runner in 1:58.87.

3,000 Meter Run
Logan Taylor was the lone Monarchs in the event and finished in 10:28.39. Brock Overlander of Dickinson was the top finisher in 8:48.53.

5,000 Meter Run
Joseph Rossi represented the Monarchs in the event and ran a time of 18:10.05. Dickinson's Brock Overlander won the race in 15:21.89.

4x200 Meter Relay
The King's men's team of Jordan Jones, Alek Gorski, Brandon Auguste, and Andrew Novrocki placed seventh with a time of 1:35.68. The host Alvernia's team won the event in 1:33.27.

4x400 Meter Relay
The men's team of Alek Gorski, Tyler Petty, Preston Klem, and Andrew Novrocki took second in 3:35.02, just behind Dickinson's winning time of 3:29.60.

In the Field
Long Jump

Jordan Jones finished second overall in his collegiate debut with a mark of 6.38 meters on his fourth jump, while Philliph Oden recorded a jump of 5.77 meters on his third try. James Holzschuh rounded out the trio with a mark of 5.19 meters on his third attempt. Terrence Jones won the event with a mark of 6.56 meters.
 
Pole Vault
Nick Scalzo represented King's in the event as he finished with a personal best height of 3.62 meters. Brayden Ecker of York (Pa.) won the pole vault as he cleared a height of 4.62 meters.

Shot Put
Joseph Schneider led a trio of Monarchs in the event as he placed 11th out of 28 throwers with a personal best mark of 11.21 meters on his third attempt, while Brady Rutkoski finished with a throw of 10.76 meters on his third try. Daniel Mattey rounded out the group with a toss of 9.65 meters on his first throw. West Chester's Derrick Lukomski-pizzo was the top finisher with a mark of 14.81 meters.

Weight Throw
Brady Rutkoski placed 10th out of 22 throwers with a personal best mark of 11.79 meters on his third throw, while Joseph Schneider posted a mark of 8.45 meters on his third attempt. Josh Herbster was the top finisher with a throw of 18.15 meters.

The Monarchs are back in action next weekend as they are set to compete in the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday, February 8.
