Personal Bests Fall as Track and Field Competes at the Susquehanna Invitational

SELINSGROVE, PA (February 15, 2025) -- Several Monarchs topped their personal best efforts on Saturday as the King's College men's and women's indoor track and field team competed at the Susquehanna Invitational in Selinsgrove.
 
On the Track
60 Meter Dash

Jacob Mullery led the Monarchs as he finished second in his heat and ninth overall in 7.21 seconds. Brandon Auguste had the next-best time in 7.34 seconds, finishing fourth in his heat, while Kival Clarke took second in his heat in 7.50 seconds. Joeperun Giles rounded out the group in a personal best time of 8.27 seconds. Dickinson's Franklyn Akabi-During was the top finisher in the preliminary heats in 7.04 seconds.

Sophia Hahn crossed in 8.72 seconds to finish third in her heat. Scranton's Samantha Sharrow won the preliminary heats in 7.89 seconds.
 
200 Meter Dash
Jacob Mullery had his second top-10 finish in the meet as he placed eighth in 23.48 seconds. Josh Malone was next to cross in a personal best time of 25.08 seconds, James Holzschuh rounded out the trio in 25.34 seconds. Dickinson's Franklyn Akabi-During had the top time in 22.23 seconds.

Sophia Hahn was the lone Monarch in the event as she finished in 29.76 seconds. Scranton's Jocelyn Smith was the top finisher in 25.91 seconds.

400 Meter Dash
Julia Johnson finished 20th overall in a personal best time of 1:07.25, while Lindsey Eyer ran a personal best time of 1:09.12. Samantha Adams was next to cross for King's in 1:10.03, and Sarah Hartzell rounded out the group with a personal best time of 1:11.10. Millersville's Shelby Derkosh won the event in 59.86 seconds.
 
3,000 Meter Run
Joseph Rossi led the Monarchs in the event with a time of 9:47.28, while Logan Taylor recorded a time of 10:21.68. Dickinson's Luke Knestout was the top runner in 9:02.52.

Cecilia Chipriano led a pair of Monarchs as she placed 11th in a personal best time of 11:42.34, while Mara Ryan ran a personal best time of 13:09.07. Gettysburg's Gabrielle Thiry was the top finisher in 10:26.58.
 
60 Meter Hurdles
Josh Malone placed fourth in his heat and 12th overall in a personal best time of 9.41 seconds. Eastern's Ian Hopkins won the preliminary heats in 8.41 seconds.
 
In the Field
High Jump

Maddy Armitage finished second overall with a height of 1.53 meters. Lebanon Valley's Melena Koutch matched the 1.53 meters in one less attempt to win the event.

Long Jump
Myles Sampson-Glass led a trio of Monarchs as he finished 10th with a mark of 6.04 meters on his third try, while Philliph Oden finished with a personal best mark of 5.98 meters on his first attempt. James Holzschuh was the final finisher for King's with a jump of 5.38 meters on his second jump. Pitt-Johnstown's Ryan Porch won the event with a mark of 7.03 meters.
 
Triple Jump
Kival Clarke landed in the top 10, placing eighth with a mark of 12.61 meters on his third attempt. Messiah's Zio Buck was the top finisher with a mark of 13.58 meters.
 
Shot Put
Carnell Kemp finished fourth overall with a toss of 13.37 meters on his second attempt, and Gian Ovalles had a mark of 11.56 meters on his first throw. Joseph Schneider posted a mark of 11.20 meters on his first try, while Daniel Mattey posted a toss of 10.96 meters on his third attempt. Brady Rutkoski finished with a mark of 10.86 meters on his first attempt, while Jev Brauer rounded out the group with a throw of 9.09 meters on two of his three throws. Gettysburg's Jack Regentin won the event with a throw of 14.78 meters.

Sophia Lukowski had a top-10 finish, placing ninth overall with a mark of 10.62 meters on her second try, while Roni McClelland finished 12th with a toss of 10.15 meters on two of her three attempts. Millersville's Sarah Hessler was the top finisher with a throw of 13.01 meters.
 
Weight Throw
Carnell Kemp placed seventh overall with a mark of 13.78 meters on his first attempt, while Joseph Schneider finished with a personal best toss of 11.06 meters on his third try. Brady Rutkoski was next to place for the Monarchs with a throw of 10.065 meters on his first toss, while Gian Ovalles had a personal best mark of 9.78 meters on his first try. Daniel Mattey rounded out the packed field for King's with a throw of 98.28 meters on his third toss. Messiah's Hoyt Lechthaler had the top mark at 16.10 meters.

Anna Bellucci led a pair of Monarchs in 13th overall with a throw of 12.93 meters on her first attempt, while Sopha Lukowski finished 15th with a personal best toss of 12.57 meters on her second try. Sarah Hessler from Millersville won the event with a throw of 16.17 meters.

The Monarchs will look to make their final preparations for the 2025 MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships as they are set to compete at Cornell's Marc Deneault Invitational next Saturday, February 22.
