ITHACA, NY (February 22, 2025) – The King's College men's indoor track and field team saw eight personal best marks fall on Saturday as they competed at Cornell University's Marc Deneault Invitational.
On the Track
60 Meter Dash
Jacob Mullery earned a spot in the finals heat as he placed eighth overall and second in his heat in 7.11 seconds, while
Joeperun Giles finished in a personal best time of 8.07 seconds. Cornell's Panashe Nhenga had the top time in the preliminary heats in 6.94 seconds.
Jacob Mullery improved on his preliminary finish and time, shaving off .03 seconds to place seventh in a new personal best time of 7.08 seconds. Cortland's Matthew Schaffert won the finals in .91 seconds.
200 Meter Dash
Andrew Novrocki placed fourth overall and second in his heat in 22.67 seconds, while
Jacob Mullery took seventh overall and won his heat in 23.05 seconds.
Alek Gorski rounded out the trio as he posted a 10
th-place time, including third-best in his heat, in a personal best time of 23.24 seconds. Cornell's Jeff Yang won the event in 22.49 seconds.
400 Meter Dash
James Holzschuh was the lone Monarch in the field as he ran a time of 58.70 seconds. Cortland's Josh Jeffes was the top finisher in 48.05 seconds.
800 Meter Run
Preston Klem paced three King's runners in the event, taking 11
th overall in 2:03.38, while
Tyler Petty placed 13
th in 2:03.59. John Gillespie was the final finisher for the Monarchs in his collegiate debut in 2:13.10. Cornell's Brady Shute won the race in 1:53.36.
5,000 Meter Run
Joseph Rossi finished third overall in a personal best time of 17:07.89, while
Logan Taylor placed seventh in 19:39.65. Lucas Corea won the event in 16:01.74.
60 Meter Hurdles
In the preliminary heats,
Josh Malone finished 10
th overall and fourth in his heat, just narrowly missing a spot in the finals, with a personal best time of 9.30 seconds. Naseem Smith had the top time of 8.10 seconds.
In the Field
High Jump
Cody Miller finished sixth overall as he cleared the 1.80-meter mark, while
Philliph Oden finished with a height of 1.65 meters. Valian McKee cleared an event-best height of 2.00 meters.
Long Jump
Jordan Jones placed sixth overall in the field of 25 with a mark of 6.51 meters on his third attempt, while
Kival Clarke finished with a jump of 5.99 meters on his first try.
Myles Sampson-Glass finished out the trio with a mark of 5.91 meters on his first attempt. Cornell's Stepan Matura was the top finisher with a mark of 6.91 meters.
Triple Jump
Kival Clarke and
Jordan Jones finished 10
th and 11
th, respectively, as Clarke finished with a mark of 12.22 meters on his first attempt, and Jones recorded a jump of 12.10 meters on his first try. Widener's Matayo McGraw was the top finisher with a jump of 14.67 meters.
Pole Vault
Nick Scalzo cleared a personal best height of 3.65 meters in the event. Zachary Ferrara was the top finisher with a mark of 5.20 meters.
Shot Put
Gian Ovalles paced a pair of Monarchs with a personal best mark of 12.42 meters on his third try, while
Joseph Schneider had a personal best throw of 11.23 meters on his third attempt. Cornell's Peter Northrup had the top mark of 17.77 meters.
Weight Throw
Carnell Kemp led a trio of Monarchs in the event with a throw of 13.33 meters on his third attempt.
Brady Rutkoski was next to place with a mark of 11.44 meters on his first try, while
Joseph Schneider rounded out the group with a toss of 10.82 meters on his final throw. Cornell's Peter Northrup was the top finisher with a throw of 17.29 meters.

The Monarchs will now set their sights on the 2025 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships beginning next Friday, February 28 at Alvernia University. Full championship details and preview will be available later next week.
