Kemp Wins Discus; 15 Personal Bests Fall at Misericordia Invitational

DALLAS, PA (April 17, 2025) -- Carnell Kemp won the discuss, while 15 personal best marks were set as the King's College men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Misericordia Invitational on Tuesday.
 
On the Track
100 Meter Dash

Kival Clarke paced the Monarchs as he finished ninth overall out of 26 runners in a personal best time of 11.51 seconds, while Kreese Stablein crossed in a personal best time of 11.78 seconds. Misericordia's Richard Billings won the event in 10.70 seconds.
 
200 Meter Dash
James Holzschuh ran a time of 24.65 seconds in the event. Jakub Sobura-Durma from Caldwell was the top finisher in 22.20 seconds.
 
800 Meter Run
Ben Wnuk placed11th in a personal best time of 2:07.70, while John Gillespie was just behind in 12th with a personal best time of 2:08.12. Chad Manning from Caldwell had the top time in 2:02.28.
 
1,500 Meter Run
Will McCarroll finished ninth in 4:57.09. Christian Snee from Scranton crossed first in 4:03.39. Scranton's Christian Snee won the event in 4:03.39.
 
5,000 Meter Run
Joseph Rossi took 10th overall in 17:09.09. Misericordia's Ryan Weber was the top finisher in 15:36.63.
 
110 Meter Hurdles
Travis Lane took sixth overall in a personal best time of 17.36 seconds. Bryant Groff of Misericordia was the top finisher in 15.56 seconds.
 
In the Field
High Jump

Cody Miller placed third overall as he cleared a height of 1.72 meters. Immaculata's Dylan Crews won the event with a height of 1.77 meters.
 
Long Jump
Jordan Jones finished third with a mark of 6.29 meters, while Kreese Stablein took seventh with a personal best jump of 5.97 meters. King's then took ninth, 10th, and 11th in the event as James Holzschuh recorded a mark of 5.78 meters, Travis Lane posted a jump of 5.70 meters, and Philliph Oden finished with a mark of 5.65 meters. Misericordia's Matthieu Brunelle was the top finisher with a mark of 6.81 meters.
 
Triple Jump
Kival Clarke placed second in the event with a mark of 12.74 meters. Kevin Philistin of Caldwell posted the top mark at 12.85 meters.
 
Discus Throw
Carnell Kemp won the shot put with a personal best mark of 44.68 meters, while Josh Brown took seventh with a throw of 35.66 meters. Joseph Schneider posted a toss of 32.18 meters, and Anthony Sabatino finished with a personal best mark of 31.21 meters. Brady Rutkoski had a throw of 31.00 meters, and Daniel Mattey recorded a personal best mark of 30.92 meters. Gian Ovalles rounded out the group with a toss of 30.04 meters.
 
Hammer Throw
Carnell Kemp took second overall with a personal best mark of 46.42 meters, while Kaleb Beers placed fourth with a personal best throw of 38.38 meters. Joseph Schneider took sixth with a personal best toss of 37.54 meters, and Brady Rutkoski took 10th with a personal best mark of 34.88 meters. Daniel Mattey recorded a personal best throw of 28.55 meters, and Gian Ovalles finished with a toss of 26.83 meters. Misericordia's Stephen Gihr won the event with a mark of 52.42 meters.
 
Javelin Throw
Anthony Sabatino placed second with a personal best mark of 37.68 meters, while Brady Rutkoski finished third with a throw of 31.96 meters. Joseph Schneider took fourth with a toss of 31.90 meters. Caldwell's Andrew Scopel won the event with a throw of 54.70 meters.
 
Shot Put
Gian Ovalles led the Monarchs in third with a throw of 11.66 meters, while Daniel Mattey placed ninth with a mark of 10.94 meters. Joseph Schneider finished with a toss of 10.47 meters, and Kaleb Beers posted a throw of 10.35 meters. Khalil Blagmon made his collegiate debut with a mark of 10.18 meters, and Brady Rutkoski finished with a toss of 10.08 meters. Jacob Schaeffer of DeSales won the event with a mark of 12.92 meters.

King's will be off for the Easter holiday before returning to action in their regular-season finale. The Monarchs are set to host the Monarch Open on Friday, April 25 at the Betzler Outdoor Track.
