WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 19, 2025) -- It is finally home weekend here in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. as the King's College football team is set to host the visiting FDU-Florham in their home opener at McCarthy Stadium this Saturday, September 20 at 1:00 p.m. The Monarchs look to bounce back after a tough Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) opener on the road at Delaware Valley, falling 49-7 in Doylestown, while the Devils also search for their first win in 2025 as they dropped their MAC debut, 37-13, at Lebanon Valley last weekend.

The Coaches: Mike Cebrosky is in his second season as the head coach of the Monarchs. Cebrosky led the team to through their historic 2024 season, featuring a 10-2 overall record, perfect 9-0 mark in the MAC, the first outright MAC title in program history, and berth to the NCAA Division III Football Championships. He was named MAC Coach of the Year while also coaching a program-best 20 All-MAC honorees, highlighted by two-time MAC Offensive Player of the Year Russell Minor-Shaw, six D3football.com All-Region players, and Zach Barber as a D3football.com All-American. Anthony Van Curen is in his fourth season with the Devils after his interim tag was dropped ahead of the 2022 season. He led the Devils to stellar 2024 campaign that featured a win in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series, 13 All-MAC honorees, a D3footbal.com All Region Third Teamer in Kwanir Edwards, and an FCS National Bowl Game appearance and Offensive MVP honor by Ryon Thomas.

Looking at FDU-Florham: The Devils have also struggled offensively to start the season, scoring just 13 points on 557 yards of total offense, including 136 rushing yards and 142.5 passing yards per contest. The defense has given up an average of 29 points per game, including 319.5 yards of total offense per game. Third down has been a point of note for both sides as the offense converted 7-of-29 (24.14%), but the defense has held firm limiting teams to 6-of-23 (26.09%). Kwanir Edwards picked up where he left off last season, averaging 113.0 rushing yards per game but has yet to find the end zone this season. The quarterbacks have seemingly split time as both Jake Sconza and Matthew Yascko have appeared in both contests and thrown for 143 and 142 yards, respectively. Andrike Terry Jr. leads the receivers with 38.50 yards per game on 10 catches. AJ Kuc paces the defense with 12 total tackles, including seven solo, while Matt Heineman adds 11 with 1.5 sacks and a blocked kick.

Home Threads: In their home opener, the Monarchs will wear their red-on-red combination, sporting their traditional home red jerseys with red pants and their classic golden helmets.

Single Digit Tough: The Monarchs award single digits, and now double digits to offensive linemen, based on merit and leadership and are retained throughout their time at King's. The 2025 roster returned two single-digit members from 2024 in Tyler Carey and Brenann Robinson and have added two so far in 2025. The Monarchs now have four Single Digit Tough players: Tyler Carey (3), Brennan Robinson (6), James Mangine (9), and Kaleb Beers (55).

Captains This Weekend: For the home opener, the offense will be represented by Brennan Robinson and Jayon Hailey, while Craig Graves and Bryan Kelly will represent the defense.

A Look at the Monarchs:
  • The Monarchs are on a three-year stretch of post-game appearances and record-breaking numbers and look to continue the trend in 2025.
  • King's looks to replace 16 All-MAC honorees from 2025 while returning First Team running back Brennan Robinson, Second Team running back Jayon Hailey and special teamer Jacob Mullery, and Honorable Mention offensive lineman Kaleb Beers. They'll also replace all six D3football.com All Region recipients and D3football.com All-American Zach Barber.
  • This week's two deep features 12 seniors, including graduate student wide receiver Tyler Carey who earned All-MAC Seocnd Team and D3football.com All Region Second Team recognition in 2022.
  • The staff stands at 15 members, including six alumni in Ben Bakanas, Will Cameron, Mike Karycinski, Sean Lavine, Brendan Mozeleski, and EJ Schreiner.
  • King's was tied for first in the MAC Preseason Poll with Delaware Valley among the 10 conference schools. FDU-Florham was ranked sixth.
  • Despite some early struggles this season, the Monarchs rank third in the MAC in passing offense at 174.0 yards per game, while the defense leads the conference as they have limited their opponents to 0-for-3 on fourth down.
  • Brennan Robinson ranks sixth in the MAC with 65.0 rushing yards per game, and Jaelin Mims is third among MAC quarterbacks with 147.0 passing yards per contest. Jayon Hailey sits ninth among MAC receivers with 47.5 yards per game, and Devin Duana is close behind in 13th with 41.0 yards per contest.
  • On defense, James Rush is fourth among MAC tacklers with his 10.0 tackles per game, while Nathan Taylor is sixth at 8.5 per contest. Zach Hulsizer and Michael Richino also crack the top 10 as they are tied for eighth at 7.5 tackles per game. Xander Murray is tied for sixth with 3.0 tackles for loss, and Richino is second with 1.00 sacks. Both James Mangine and Bryan Kelly are tied for second with three passes defended.

Up Next: King's will play its second straight game in front of their home crowd at McCarthy Stadium next weekend as they host Eastern University for their Homecoming and Family Weekend. Kickoff on September 27 is set for 1:00 p.m.
