YORK, PA (February 12, 2025) -- The King's College men's swimming team delivered several record-breaking individual performances on the opening day of the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships on Thursday, hosted by York College.
Christopher Dutko opened the day with a strong showing in the 500-yard freestyle prelims, placing second in his heat with a personal-best time of 5:19.97. His mark shaved 14.42 seconds off his previous best.
In the 200-yard IM prelims,
Connor Scheckner placed second overall with a personal-best time of 1:56.82, shaving 2.41 seconds off his previous mark to qualify for the finals. Teammate
Julian Zoquier also turned in a personal-best swim of 2:19.72, dropping 5.26 seconds from his prior time to qualify for the finals as well, finishing 22nd overall.
The finals of the 200-yard IM saw Scheckner earn the podium as he placed fourth overall at 1:57.64, while Zoquier touched the block at 2:20.77, placing 23rd.
The 50-yard freestyle prelims featured three Monarchs recording new personal bests.
Chase Kubis led the group, finishing third in his heat with a time of 22.18 to qualify for the finals, trimming 0.17 seconds off his previous mark. Kubis later placed 15th overall in the finals with a time of 22.60.
Stefan Lakoseljac and
Kyle McDevitt also recorded personal-best swims in the 50-yard freestyle prelims, with Lakoseljac touching the wall in 23.49 to place 25th and McDevitt clocking in at 23.52 for a 26th-place finish.
The Monarchs closed out day one of the MAC Championships with an eighth-place podium finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as the quartet of Scheckner, McDevitt, Lakoseljac, and Kubis combined for a season-best time of 1:41.45.
The men's swim team returns to action on Friday, February 13, as the Monarchs compete in day two of the MAC championships at York College starting at 9:30 AM.
