KING'S MEN'S LAXERS FALLS 10-9 IN OVERTIME TO GWYNEDD-MERCY
GWYNEDD VALLEY - Host Gwynedd Valley pushed across the game-winning goal with 2:32 remaining in overtime as the Griffins posted a 10-9 victory over King's College on Tuesday.
With the loss King's slipped to 1-4 on the year while Gwynedd- Mercy improved to 4-3.
The Griffins opened up the scoring early with two goals from Nicholas Hummell and Kevin Hens, before
Curtis Reinard answered back for the Monarchs to cut the lead with 0.7 seconds left in the first period. The second period was all Gwynedd- Mercy as they scored three goals from Craig Trueblood, Nicholas Coan and Matt Houk to make the score 5-1.
Daniel Carducci cut into the lead for King's with a goal of his own with 9:55 in the third period to make the score 5-2. The Griffins struck again with two goals from Hummel and Johnathan Schmitt to build a 7-2 lead. The Monarchs were able to strike back with three goals of their own to make the score 7-5.
In the fourth period the Griffins were able to find the back of the net when in the 14:48 mark Matt Houk scored from the assist from Thomas Stewart to make the score 8-5. King's answered back in the 11:58 mark with a goal from
T.J. Lyon.
Jason Merola scored twice for king's to tie the score 8-8. Thomas Stewart was able to score for the Griffins with 3:20 remaining to give Gwynedd-Mercy the one goal lead. King's was able to score again as Matt Sweazy tied the two teams up again at 9-9 with 1:40 left in regulation.
The two teams went to overtime period when Hetland scored the game winning goal from Matt Houk at 2:32 in suden victory.
Merola led King's with three goals while Reinard and Lyon had two goals each.
King's next game will be on the road against Manhattanville for a 1:00 pm contest on Saturday.
