MONARCH LAXERS DROP 7-4 DECISION TO MANATTANVILLE
 
PURCHASE, NY – Host Manhattanville College had two different players score two goals each as the Valiants posted a 7-4 Middle Atlantic Conference victory over King's College on Saturday.
 
With the win, Manhattanville improves to 3-3 overall and a 2-0 in the MAC while King's falls to 1-5, and 0-2 in league play.
 
Manhattanville opened up a 4-0 lead early in the first half before Matt Sweazy scored for the Monarchs with 9:59 remaining in the second quarter to make the score 4-1. Vinny Menzenski found the back of the net for the Valiants with 6:55 left. Joe Doran was able to score for King's to cut the lead to 5-2 with 2:47 as the two teams went to half.
 
Sweazy netted his second goal of the game to open up the third quarter to cut the lead to 5-3, but Andrew McMillin scored for the Valiants to push the advantage to 6-3 at the close of the third quarter.
 
In the fourth quarter T.J. Lyon scored with 14:11 left to make things 6-4, but Mezenski scored his second goal for the Valaiants to bring the final score to 7-4.
 
Manhattanville held a 24-22 shot advantage while holding a 33-28 edge in ground balls.
 
Sweazy led the Monarchs with his two goals, while Lyon added one goal and one assist. John Doran also contributed one goal. Tim Cassi registered 11 saves in the game.
 
Mezenski paced the Valiants with two goals and one assist, while McMillian added two goals. Joey Hasbrouck, Jeff Garrett and Mike Strauss all added one goal each. Andrew Predun made 13 saves in goal for Manhattanville.
 
The Monarchs return home to take on Lycoming College in a 7:00 p.m. game on Wednesday.
