KING'S LAXERS EDGED BY SUSQUEHANNA 9-8
SELINSGROVE -- Sean Ledwick and Tim Pastore scored three goals each and Susquehanna held off a King's College fourth-quarter rally as the host Crusaders registered a 9-8 victory in a non-conference men's lacrosse matchup Wednesday in Selinsgrove.
With the loss, King's slips to 1-2 while Susquehanna improved to 3-1.
With King's trailing 9-5 in the final period, Jason Merola scored at 6:35 before Brendan Novotny struck net at 1:39 to cut the lead to 9-7. Just 0:34 later, Novotny scored again with 1:05 left. The Monarchs would win the face-off and had one last chance when Novotny shot again but his attempt was wide with 0:01 on the clock as the Crusaders held on for the victory.
Lenny Fox aided King's with two goals and one assist; Merola tallied two scores; while Rusty Booth added one goal and two assists. Justin Delsordo chipped in with one assist for the Monarchs. In goal, Mike Benson made 12 saves.
For Susquehanna Dustin Breakey added two goals and one assist while Justin Caba tallied two assists.
King's returns to action March 20 when the Monarchs return home to face Gwynedd-Mercy College at 3:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
