KING'S LAXERS FALL TO MESSIAH COLLEGE, 9-3
WILKES-BARRE -- Eric Petters scored three goals and one assist as Messiah College defeated King's by the score of 9-3 victory in Middle Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday at McCarthy Stadium.
With the loss, King's slips to a 4-5 overall record and a 2-3 conference mark, while Messiah improved to 4-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
King's would trail the Falcons by the score of 2-0 before Lenny Fox connected from Curtis Reinard at 6:54 for the first Monarch goal. Fox would again convert from Reinard with 0:01 left in the quarter to even the score. The Falcons would score six goals in the next two quarters to make the score 8-2, before Rusty Booth made good on a man-up opportunity with an assist from Dan Carducci for the final Monarch goal. Zac Smith made the final score 9-3 for Messiah College with a goal at the 2:03 mark of the fourth quarter.
Booth led King's with two goals, Fox tallied one goal, while Reinard, Carducci and Novotny all added one assist each. In goal, Kenny Cernuto made 10 saves.
For Messiah Nate Windon added two goals while Heath Kupecky tallied one goal and one assist.
King's now travels to Williamsport on April 14 to take on conference-foe Lycoming College at 4:00 p.m.
