LYCOMING MEN'S LAXERS DEFEAT KING'S
WILLIAMSPORT -- Nate Walter scored four goals and dished out five assists to power the host Lycoming College men's lacrosse team to a 9-0 victory over King's College in a Middle Atlantic Conference men's matchup Wednesday in Williamsport.
With the win, Lycoming improved to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in league games. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 4-6 and 4-2.
Lycoming took a 4-0 lead after the first period and eventually built a 7-0 lead before KIng's reached the scoreboard when Rusty Booth scored unassisted. The score sparked a three-goal Monarch run that continued when Curtis Reinard struck net off a pass from Peter Grenot and Brendan Novotny scored following a pass from Booth to cut the score to 7-3 with 11:51 remaining in the third quarter.
The Warriors, however, put the game away with four more unanswered goals to stretch the lead to 11-3. Lenny Fox scored off a Reinard assist scored for King's to bring the game to 11-4 entering the fourth quarter. Reinard and Chris Fuldner added goals for the Monarchs.
Lycoming outshot King's 41-19 and held a 44-28 advantage in ground balls.
Reinard finished with two goals and one assist while Booth tallied one goal and one assist to top the Monarch offense. Kenny Cernuto posted 12 saves in goal for the Monarchs.
Stephen Romano aided the Warriors with four goals and one assist while Ethan Payne added two goals and an assist. Ed Williams chipped in with two goals for the Warriors. Lycoming goalie Alan Antinarelli made seven saves on the day
King's will host Easrern University Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
