KING'S MEN'S LACROSSE EDGED BY FDU-FLORHAM, 5-2
MADISON, NJ -- The King's College men's lacrosse team put up a valiant effort against one of the premier programs in the Middle Atlantic Conference, but in the end, the Monarchs dropped a hard-fought 5-2 decision to MAC co-leader FDU-Florham under the lights Wednesday night in Madison, NJ.
With the win, FDU improved to 8-4 overall and 7-1 in the MAC while King's slipped to 4-8 and 2-6 in league games.
The Monarchs trailed 3-1 at the halftime break as Rusty Booth netted the lone goal of the half for the Monarchs. The Devils took a 3-1 advantage on the only goal of the third quarter, scored by Kevin Shadiak as the Devils carried a 4-1 lead into the final 15:00 of play.
FDU added another big goal by Shadiak eaerly in the final stanza to build a 5-1 lead. King's countered with a Chris Fuldner score with 12:09 left in the contest as the MOnarchs attempted to rally. King's outshot FDU 7-4 in the final period but could not muster another goal the rest of the way as the Devils walked away with the victory.
Shadiak was the lone multi-goal scorer of the game with two markers
FDU outshot King's 39-21 and held a 26-20 advantage in ground balls. King's goalie Kenny Cernuto made 13 saves while Devil keeper Alex Kaiencki made nine stops.
