KING'S WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HOSTS GWYNEDD-MERCY THURSDAY IN NON-LEAGUE PLAY, VIEW LIVESTATS

 

WILKES-BARRE – The King's College women's basketball team will conclude their non-league slate Thursday when they host Gwynedd-Mercy College at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.

King's (8-4) enters the game coming off an impressive 66-52 comeback victory over Frostburg University Monday in the consolation game of the Moravian College Winter Classic. Sophomore guard Celia Rader leads a balanced scoring attack averaging 16.1 points and 4.0 rebounds, shooting 38.6 percent (32-83) from behind the arc. Rader was named to the all-tournament team over the weekend after firing in 24 points and grabbing nine rebounds in the win over Frostburg. Junior Paige Carlin follows with 10.7 points and 5.6 rebounds, while sophomore guard Katlin Michaels adds 10.1 points and 4.9 rebounds through 12 games. Sophomore guard Lindsay Atchison contributes 8.3 points and a team-best 6.8 rebounds, shooting 43.5 percent (37-85) from the floor. Junior point-guard Brittany Muscatell runs the offense averaging 6.7 points and 3.0 assists each contest. King's averages 67.9 points per-game, while allowing 67.3 points each contest.

 

Gwynedd-Mercy enters the contest with a 6-3 overall mark following a 62-53 loss at Wesley on Monday. The Griffins are coming off five-straight postseason appearances including thirteen consecutive conference title game showings. Senior forward Kristy McGrath tops the squad averaging 16.7 points and 8.0 rebounds. Junior guard Brittany Neill follows with 15.2 points and 6.7 rebounds, canning a team-high 25 three-pointers. Senior forward Stacey Judge adds 7.6 points and 6.0 rebounds. Gwynedd-Mercy averages 65.9 points, while yielding 58.3 points each game.

 

Gwynedd-Mercy has taken the last three meetings between the two schools, including a 70-60 win in Gwynedd Valley, PA last season. Following the game, King's will take to the road for a Freedom Conference matchup against FDU-Florham on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
