COLD-SHOOTING KING'S WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM FALLS 59-49 AT GMC

GWYNEDD-VALLEY -- The King's College women's basketball shot an ice-cold 27-percent from the floor as the Lady Monarchs dropped a 59-49 decision to host Gwynedd-Mercy College Tuesday night in Gwynedd-Valley.

With the loss, King's slipped to 6-2 and saw its four-game win streak come to an end while the Griffins improved to 4-3.

King's stuggled mightily from the floor in the first half, making just 21.9 (7-32) of its shots from the field while firing an icy 1-of-10 shots from three-point range as the Lady Monarchs fell behind 32-20 at the break.

The hole was too much to dig out of as the Lady Monarchs fought to battle back in the second half, never to get the lead. King's clawed to within 40-37 with 10:56 left in the contest but drew no closer.

Paige Carlin was outstanding for King's with 25 points and nine rebounds but received little support.Carlin shot 9-of-14 from the field while the rest ofr the Lady Monarchs combined to shoot a pedestrian 16.3 (8-of-49) percent from the floor. As a team, King's made just 3-of-22 of its three-point attempts.

Marissa Manning had seven point and five rebounds while Samantha Simcox tallied four points and eight boards.

Brittany Neal led the Griffins with 14 points and six rebounds.

King's returns to the court Thursday with a 6:00 p.m. matchup at Lycoming College.
