Men's Lacrosse Falls 16-4 At Randolph-Macon

KING'S MEN'S LACROSSE LOSES 16-4 AT RANDOLPH-MACON
 
ASHLAND, VA -- Host Randolph-Macon College jumped out to a 7-2 halftime lead, then outscored the Monarchs 9-2 in the second half on way to a 16-4 win over King's College Saturday afternoon in men's lacrosse non-conference action.
 
King's drops to 1-3 overall on the year, while Randolph-Macon improves to 5-1 on the season.
 
Following a Yellow Jacket goal to open the game, King's TJ Tagg tied the game at 1-1 on a man-up opportunity with 10:13 left in the first quarter. Randolph-Macon answered with three straight goals over the next nine minutes before Monarch attacker Lenny Fox found the back of the net to cut the lead to 4-2 with :49 left in the first stanza.
 
It was over the second and third quarter that the Yellow Jackets opened their lead scoring nine unanswered tallies in the 30 minutes of action to take a 13-2 lead heading into the fourth. King's Evan Seward scored twice in the final frame, the second on an assist from Mike O'Brien to complete the Monarch scoring.
 
Randolph-Macon held a commanding 40-20 shot advantage, while posting 29 ground balls to the Monarchs' 24. King's was efficient in the circle winning 11 of the 20 faceoffs in the contest. Matt Jester posted 10 wins in the circle while adding three ground balls. King's goalie Kevin Conzola finished with five saves in net.
 
Tyler Midwinter led the Yellow Jackets with four goals and one helper. Seven different Randolph-Macon players reached the scoring column throughout.
 
King's will return to action Wednesday when the Monarchs welcome Utica College to McCarthy Stadium for a non-league contest scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
