EASTERN MEN'S LACROSSE HANDS MONARCHS 10-3 SETBACK IN MAC CONTEST

ST. DAVID — Will Johnson and Chris Farrar scored three goals each to lead the host Eastern University men's lacrosse team to a 10-3 Middle Atlantic Conference victory over King's College Saturday in St. David's.

With the win, Eastern improved to 5-3 overall and remain unbeaten in MAC play with a 4-0 mark. The Monarchs, meanwhile, slipped to 3-6 and 1-3 in conference play.

Eastern built a 3-0 lead before the Monarchs got on the board with a Chris Fuldner goal with 9:08 left in the first quarter. The Eagles scored three straight goals to up the advantage to 6-1 before the Ryan Bullock struck net off a Pat Bonnot assist with 2:14 left in the half to bring the score to 6-2. Eastern, however, scored a momentum-changing goal just 0:49 later to take a 7-2 lead into the break.

The Eagles scored two more goals in the third quarter and added a third straight midway through the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 10-2. The Monarchs added a final goal with 0:48 to play when Kieran McMahon scored off an assist from Shane Russo.

King's fell despite holding a 31-28 advantage in shots while the teams each hauled in 35 ground balls. King's goalie Kevin Conzola made nine stops while Eagle counterpart Aaron Benz finished with 11 stops.

The Monarchs return to action Wednesday when King's travels to Dallas to face local rival Misericordia University at 7:00 p.m.
