KING'S MEN'S LACROSSE HOSTS DEFENDING MAC CHAMPION WIDENER IN HOME FINALE THURSDAY
WILKES-BARRE – Standing on the outside looking in from the playoff picture, the King's College men's lacrosse team has some work left to do before its all said and done. Thursday, the Monarchs face their first stiff challenge in a three-game ride to the end of the regular season when they welcome defending Middle Atlantic Conference Champion Widener University to McCarthy Stadium for a 4:00 p.m. matchup.

King's enters their home finale with a 5-8 overall mark standing 3-5 in MAC play after falling 9-6 against Elizabethtown on Saturday. The Monarchs are currently tied with Misericordia (3-5) and Lebanon Valley (3-5) for seventh place with three games remaining. The top six teams from the conference make the postseason tournament.
Freshman attack Mike O'Brien leads the Monarchs offense with 24 points on 14 goals and 10 assists. Sophomore midfielder Lenny Fox follows with 18 points on a team-high 17 goals and one helper. Rookie attacker Kieran McMahon contributes 16 points on seven goals and nine assists. Junior goalie Kevin Conzola boasts a 8.45 goals against average with 130 saves in 13 matches in net.
Widener (10-2, 8-0 MAC) has continued its dominance in the conference remaining unbeaten through eight matches after posting a 10-6 win over Messiah College on Tuesday. Sophomore attack Johnny Casey leads the Pride offensively with 34 points on 22 goals and 12 assists. Fellow sophomore attack Josh Fox follows with 31 points on 19 goals and 12 helpers. Freshman attack Robert Clemens adds 21 points on 10 goals and 11 assists, while junior attack Michael Bassani chips in 17 points on nine goals and eight assists. Pride goalie sophomore Bobby Schluter has a 6.20 GAA with 41 saves in 10 matches in net.
King's closes out its 2011 regular season slate with road contests at Manhattanville and Messiah next week.
