KING'S MEN'S LACROSSE POSTS 7-6 OVERTIME WIN AT MANHATTANVILLE
Purchase, N.Y. -- Ryan Bullock scored three goals and Shane Russo notched the game-winner three minutes into overtime as visiting King's College posted a 7-6 victory at Manhattanville College on Wednesday afternoon.
With the win King's improves to 6-9 overall and 4-6 in MAC play. Manhattanville drops to 3-12 overall and 1-9 in league matches.
Bullock scored his first goal off an Evan Seward assist to tie the game at 1-1 with 6:47 left in the first quarter. King's took its first lead at 2-1 early in the second quarter when Rob Lane scored unassisted. The host Valiants tied the game at 2-2 just before the half.
Manhattanville then scored the games next two goals to open up a 4-2 lead with 12:44 left in the third frame. The Monarchs responded with four unanswered tallies to take back the lead at 6-4 entering the fourth stanza. Jason Merola started the scoring tear with a goal followed by two strikes from Bullock. Lenny Fox capped the offensive explosion with an unassisted goal.
Manhattanville scored twice in the final frame to tie the game at 6-6 and held the Monarch offense in check to force overtime.
From there, Russo wasted little time taking a Kieran McMahon pass and beating Valiant keeper Dom Poletto to send King's to victory two minutes into the extra session.
King's goalie Brendan McCrudden finished with five saves to record the win in net. Poletto made 15 stops for Manhattanville.
King's will conclude its regular season slate Saturday when they travel to Messiah College for a match scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
