DALLAS -- The King's College men's lacrosse team built a 6-3 halftime lead, then held off a second half rally by host Misericordia University as the Monarchs walked away with a 8-7 victory on a rainy evening in Dallas.

After Misericordia took a 1-0 lead just 1:12 into the game on a J.R. Lauri goal, the Monarchs answered when T.J. Tagg scored off a Mike O'Brien assist with 9:27 left in the first quarter. King's took a 1-0 lead at the end of the opening stanza following an unassisted goal by Jason Merola at the 1:32 mark.

The Cougars tied the score at 2-2 when Patrick McTague scored 2:20 into the second period. King's responded again Kieran McMahon set up Lenny Fox for a 3-2 Monarch advantage with 6:01 left in the first. But Misericordia again tied the game after Lee Blair's score at 3:53.

From there, the Monarchs forged ahead with three straight goals. Fox scored again off an assist from McMahon just 0:18 later before the sophomore standout added his third goal of the game on an unassisted effort with 1:53 remaining in the half.  Pat Bonnot gave King's a 6-3 halftime lead when he made good on a pass from Ryan Bullock with just 0:35 remaining in the opening stanza.
In the third quarter the score remained the same until the 3:44 mark when Kyle Calabro scored for the Cougars. Blair added his second goal with 0:46 left as Misericordia clawed back to within 6-5 entering the fourth quarter.

The Monarchs made it a two-goal game when Bonnot scored off an assist from Bullock at 13:53, but Misericordia countered with a Lauri goal 2:41 later to cut the lead to 7-6.  Fox then came through with his fourth goal of the match on an unassisted score with 6:17 on the clock to up the Monarch advantage to 8-6. McTague then scored his second goal of the match with 1:22 remaining to bring the score to 8-7.

The Cougars had two scoring chances over the final minute but Monarch goalie Kevin Conzola made two critical saves, the final coming with 0:40 left to preserve the victory.

Fox finished the game with a career-best four goals while Bonnot added a pair. Bullock and McMahon added two assists each to aid the King's attack. Conzola finished with 12 saves in the contest.
