King's Men's Lacrosse Scores Win Over Lycoming in Overtime
Williamsport, PA-- Kevin Sweeney buried a shot after taking a pass from A.J. Bungert to lift the King's College men's lacrosse team to its first win of the season 7-6 over Lycoming in overtime Saturday afternoon.

Iyt marked King's first-ever men's lacrosse win over Lycoming since the Monarch program was instituted as a varsity sport in 1999.


With 1:50 to play in the extra session the Bungert scooped up a groundball in the offensive zone. Kieran McMahon took a shot with but was foiled by goalie Andrew Hauk. Lenny Fox scooped up the ground ball and moved the ball to Bungert who found Sweeney for the game-winner.

The Monarchs found themselves down by two with 7:50 to play in the fourth quarter when Lycoming's Ethan Payne scored on a Ben Walker pass. King's responded at the with a pair of goals by McMahon at 6:09 and 5:34 respectively.

The Warriors drew first blood scoring at the 10:34 mark in the first quarter, but King's quickly responded with a McMahon goal at 8:23. Pat Bonnet put the Monarchs ahead 2-1 with 13:16 on the clock in the second quarter the only lead they would have until overtime.

McMahon finished the game with three goals. Fox tallied a pair of goals while Sweeney and Bonnet each netted one. Bungert picked up two helpers including the asssist on the winner.

The Monarchs continue on the road on Wednesday when they make the trip to Marywood for a 4:00 p.m. start.
