Late Rally Does in King's Men's Laxers in 10-9 Overtime Loss to Manhattanville

Purchase, N.Y.-- Kevin Sweeney recorded a hat trick an had five points , but visiting King's College fell to Manhattanville 10-9 in overtime in the regular-season finale Saturday afternoon.

Sweeney scored two goals and had two assists in the first half helping the Monarchs (7-7, 3-2) build a 7-4 lead at the break. King's still lead 8-5 going to the fourth quarter before Manhattanville (4-11, 2-3) rallied tying the game on a late man advantage goal. The Valiants won the game 56 seconds into overtime on another man-advantage tally.

Kiernan McMahon added three points for King's on a goal and a pair of helpers while Ryan Francik posted a pair of points on a goal and an assist. Jason Merola chipped in two assists.

Brendan Kuntz led the Valiants with five points on three goals and two asissts. Four other Valiants recorded two points each including two goals by Joe Daly.

Brendan McCrudden took the loss between the pipes making 15 saves and allowing 10 goals on 34 shots. Dom Poletto picked up the win making 10 saves.

The Monarchs finish in tie with FDU for the second spot in the conference, but hold the head-to-head tie-breaker and will host the Devils in the opening round of the Freedom Conference tournament Tuesday at McCarthy Stadium.
