ASTON -- Katlin Michaels and Lindsay Atchison combined for 36 points to power the King's College women's basketball team to a 76-66 victory over host Neumann University in a non-conference matchup Saturday in Aston.

With the win, King's improved to 7-4 on the year while Neumann slipped to 4-8.

The Lady Monarchs took command early in the game and never trailed in the contest. With the game tied at 4-4 with just over two minutes gone, King's was ignited by a three-pointer from Ashley Davies to ignite a 8-0 run. Michaels followed with a driving lay-up, Davies added
one-of-two free throws, and Jennifer Fabian added an inside basket to push the score to 12-4 with 14:30 left in the half.

After the Knights trimmed the lead to 14-8, King's used a three-pointer from Kyley
Henry, two straight buckets from Michaels, and a traditional three-point play from Fabian to cap a 10-0 surge to increase the lead to 24-8 at the 9:37 mark.

The Lady Monarchs eventually built its biggest lead at 42-20 with 1:32 left in the opening half following baskets
by Atchison and Michaels and two free throws by Davies. After four straight points by Neumann, the Lady Monarchs took a 44-24 lead at the half on a driving lay-uo from Atchison with 0:36 to play.

In the second
half, Neumann began to chip away and closed to within 14 points when a basket by Laura Scott cut the lead to 49-35 with 15:01 remaining in the contest. King's, however, would push the lead back to 21 points when a lay-up from Celia Rader stretched the advantage to 62-41 with 8:56 left.

Neumann, however, would not go away and the Knights went on a 13-0 run, cutting the lead to 62-54 with 5:33 remaining. The teams traded
free throws on the next three possessions as the Lady Monarchs maintained a 66-58 lead with 3:55 to play. After a Neumann miss, Michaels was fouled with 2:40 left and converted both charity tosses to give King's a 68-58 advantage.

The Knights then used a pair of baskets by Colleen Hinde
to close to within 69-62 with 1:52 remaining but King's countered with a bucket by Atchison and one free throw each from Michaels and Fabian to push the score to 73-62 with 0:46 on the clock. After a Neumann bucket, King's Jessica McHugh closed the door with a pair of foul shots at the 0:28 mark to give the Lady Monarchs an insurmountable 75-64 lead.

Michaels finished with a game-high 19 points while adding seven rebounds and six assists. Atchison was outstanding form the floor, totaling
