Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The King's College men's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season, falling to 3-1 after a 6-4 loss to Marywood Tuesday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.

Marywood got on the board first striking twice in the first quarter. Daniel Anderson scored at the 11:57 mark assisted by Sam Trill and Dante Frederico extended the lead to 2-0 on an unassisted tally. The Monarchs bounced back with a Mike O'Brien picked up an unassisted marker with 14:27 in the second quarter to make the halftime score 2-1.

King's came out of the break fast getting a goal from Liam Kelly at the 7:32 on a pass from Kevin Sweeney to tie the game. O'Brien struck at the 3:02 mark unassisted to put King's up 3-2. Marywood tied the score, 3-3, just before the end of the third with a Derick Schmidt goal with just 52 seconds to play in the quarter.

The Pacers netted a pair of goals to open the fourth from Scott Slater and Michael Squillante to push the lead back to 5-3. King's chipped away at the lead on a Kevin Sweeney tally with 4:03 to play, but couldn't overcome a late man-up goal by Brandon Terlizzi with 44 seconds on the clock.

O'Brien led the way for King's with three points on two goals and one helper. While Sweeney tallied a pair of points on a goal and an assist.

Marywood's offense was paced by two points from Frederico and Anderson. Five other Pacers tallied a point.

Brenden McCrudden made 11 saves and took the loss in net for King's. Marywood goalie Nicholas Cornella made eight stops in the win.

The Monarchs played the game without the services of reigning Freedom Conference "Player of the Year" Lenny Fox who missed the game for personal reasons and will return for King's next game.

The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday when they host Lycoming at 4:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
