King's Men's Laxers Drop 15-6 Decision to Eastern
St. David's, Pa. -- The King's College men's lacrosse team fell to Eastern 15-6 on Saturday in Freedom Conference action.
The Monarchs fell to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play while Eastern improved to 10-2 and 3-0 in league play.
Eastern opened up the scoring with a goals from Matt Soldano at the 13:39 mark in the first quarter.
Lenny Fox tied the game with 5:45 on the clock in the first with an unassisted tally. The Eagles went on a run scoring the next four goals capped by a Chris Farrar tally just 28 seconds into the second quarter to take a 5-1 advantage.
The Monarchs answered with a goals from
Pat Bonnot assisted by Billy McCollough at the 7:20 mark of the second quarter and an unassisted marker from Fox with 58 seconds remaining in the first to cut the halftime deficit to 5-3.
Zac Ivy got the second half started for the Eagles scoring the first of four Eastern goals that gave Eastern a 9-3 lead with 3:53 left in the third. King's got as close as 9-5 after goals from Bonnot and McCollough, but Eastern scored the next three goals to push the lead back to 12-5.
Kieran McMahon scored with 9:01 to play unassisted, but Eastern scored three more times to set the final.
The Monarchs were 0-for-6 on extra man opportunities, while Eastern converted on 2-of-3 chances. The Eagles held a 37-27 advantage in shots, while both teams won 12 faceoffs.
Bonnot and Fox each picked up a pair of goals for the Monarchs. McCollough also picked up two points on one goal and one assist. McMahon added a goal and
Joe Massa tallied an assist.
Grant Ferguson paced the Eastern offense with eight points on five goals and three helpers. Ivy added five points on two goals and three assists. Chris Farrar added three goals and two helpers for five points.
Brendan McCrudden took the loss in net for the Monarchs making six saves and allowing all 15 goals. Aaron Benz picked up the win making nine stops.
The Monarchs return to action on next Saturday when they host Manhattanville at McCarthy Satdium at 1:00 p.m.
