Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- Junior Kieran McMahon scored just two minutes into overtime to propel King's to a 9-8 win over FDU-Florham and clinching the Monarchs their second straight trip to the Freedom Conference playoffs.

The Monarchs won the extra frame face-off , but turned the ball over. King's forced a Devil's turnover on the clear attempt and after a save on a Lenny Fox shot, McMahon found the ball and buried a shot to give King's the win.

With the game tied a six Ryan Francik gave King's a 7-6 edge on an unassisted tally at the 12:26 mark in the fourth quarter. Fox extended the lead to 8-6 with an unassisted marker with 7:58 to play. The Devils sliced the lead to 8-7 with 3:41 in the fourth on a Jake Higgins goal and Frank Reda tied the game with just 54 second to play.

FDU jumped out early scoring the first two goals of the game with Daniel Minnich and Reda giving the Devils a 2-0 lead after the first quarter. The Monarchs tallied four straight goals in the second quarter, three by Mike O'Brien to take a 4-2 edge into the locker room.

King's came out of the break picking up right where they left off with Pat Bonnot extending the lead to 5-2 assisted by Fox at 12:49 to play in the third quarter. Fox pushed the lead to 6-2 with a goal at the 10:26 mark in the third. The Devils pulled even scoring the next four goals capped by a Cody McHugh goal with 12:52 on the clock in the fourth quarter.

O'Brien paced the King's offense with three goals and one assist for four points. Fox finished with three points on two goals and a helper. McMahon tallied a pair of goals.

Cory Weiss dished out four assists for the Devils. Reda finished the day with three goals, while McHugh netted three points on two goals and one helper.

Brendan McCrudden picked up the win in the cage for the Monarchs making 19 saves. Tim Zangara finished with nine saves and took the loss for the Devils.

The Monarchs are the fourth seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference tournament and will travel to top seeded Eastern on Wednesday at a time to be announced.
