KING'S MEN'S LAXERS FALL TO TOP-SEEDED EASTERN IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS

ST. DAVIDS — The host Eastern University men's lacrosse team went through the Freedom Conference regular-season unbeaten, and showed why the Eagles earned the top seed, posting a 12-3 victory over visiting fourth-seeded King's College in a semi-final matchup Wednesday in St. Davids.

With the win, Eastern improved to 14-2 while the Monarchs ended their season with  school-record 10-3 mark.

King's received one goal each from Lenny Fox, Mike O'Brien, and Max Malloy Billy McCullough won 89-of-17 face-offs and posted seven ground balls. Kieran McMahon and A.J. Bungert contributed with three ground balls apiece. Monarch goalie Brendan McCrudden made 15 saves in net.

Grant Ferguson led the Eagles with four goals while Will Johnson followed with two goals and two assists. Eric Wabel tallied two goals and an assist  while Shawn Farmer posted ne goal and one assist. A.J. Ryan won 7-of-13 face-offs while Eastern goalie Aaron Benz was outstanding in making 20 saves, snuffing out a number of quality Monarch scoring chances.

Eastern outshot King's 47-34 and held a 42-23 advantage in ground balls. As a team Eastern won 11 face-offs, compared to eight for the Monarchs.

For King's, the game marked the end of the careers of senior players Lenny Fox, Malcolm Ford, and Luke Beerman.

Fox, the 2012 Freedom Conference "Player of the Year", finished his outstanding career for King's with 101 points on 82 goals and 19 assists. He ranks second all-time in career goals at King's and fourth in total points.
