KING'S HARNEY NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE — King's College athletic standout
Amanda Harney has been named the Freedom Conference women's lacrosse "Player of the Week", the Middle Atlantic Conferences Office announced Monday.
Harney had a big week for a undermanned King's squad that lost both games but were forced to play man-down each game with only 11 players.
For the week she totaled 16 points in two games with eight goals and eight assists. All eight goals were scored man-down. She avereged 8.0 points, 7.0 ground balls, and 5.0 caused turnovers per-game. In a 17-15 road loss to Gwynedd-Mercy, Harney was brilliant in setting a new King's single-game record with 11 points on six goals and five assists, while adding eight ground balls, and forced four turnovers.
In a 10-6 loss at Elmira, Harney tallied five more points despite constant double and triple-teaming as she scored two goals and distributed three more assists. She also added six ground balls and forced six turnovers.
Harney, who was an All-Freedom Conference selection a year ago after scoring 70 points, currently leads the Lady Monarchs with 17 points in three games, scoring nine goals and dishing out eight assists.
