Box Score King's Men's Lacrosse Drops 5-3 Decision to DeSalesCenter Valley, Pa. -- The King's College men's lacrosse fell in a hard-fought 5-3 defensive struggle in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss King's fell to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in the Freedom Conference. DeSales improved to 3-7 nd 2-0.
After a scoreless first quarter DeSales got on the board first when Jake McNamara scored his first goal of the season on an assist by Evan Burns at the 10:21 mark of the second period.
Mike O'Brien leveled the score with an unassisted tally with 6:37 left in the half.
The Bulldogs took advantage of their a pair of man-up opportunities taking a 3-1 lead on goals from Ryan Loughlin and James Guerrier at 12:16 and 11:59. The Monarchs cut the lead in half before the end of the third quarter when
Pat Bonnot scored a man-up goal at the 7:28 mark.
O'Brien scored with 5:17 remaining in the game to tie the game 3-3. Guerrier scored the eventual game winner with 4:29 to play. Loughlin tallied an insurance marker for DeSales with 2:44 left in the game to set the final.
The Monarchs out shot the Bulldogs 23-21, but DeSales won the face-off battle 7-4. DeSales went 2-3 on the man-up while King's was 1-4.
The Monarchs continue Freedom Conference play when they host Misericordia on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
