KING'S MEN'S LACROSSE DROPS 7-6 HEARTBREAKER TO GOUCHER
WILKES-BARRE -- Owen Demmerly scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 1:04 left in the contest as the visiting Goucher College men's lacrosse team posted a 7-6 victory over host King's College in a non-conference matchup Saturday at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win Goucher improved to 4-2 while the Monarchs fell to 0-3.
The teams entered the fourth quarter tied at 5-5 until Goucher took the lead with an unassisted man-up goal by Demmerly with 12:36 left. Â The Monarchs knotted the score at 6-6 when Cam Trick scored with 6:25 on the clock.Demmerly would score the game's final goal unassisted but the Monarchs had two more chances for the win. King's Ryan Booznarian's shot with 0:12 left was saved by Gopher keeper Kark Wiszumerski. After the Monarchs controlled the loose ball A.J. Bungert's shot with 0:01 on the clock was also saved by the Goucher keeper to preserve the win.Trick led King's with a season high four goals while Ryan Dambach and Reilly Breig also found the back of the net for the Monarchs. Brock Johnson and Chris Theodorou Johnson added assists. William Pokorny made 11 saves in net for the Monarchs.For Goucher, Demmerly had three goals and one assist while Sam Morgan posted two goals and one assist.
Goucher outshot King's 28-27 while the Monarchs owned a 20-19 advantage in ground balls.Â
King's plays again Wednesday at Scranton in a 4:00 p.m. matchup
