KING'S MEN'S LACROSSE DROPS 10-9 HEARTBREAKER AT FDU

MADISON, NJ -- Daniel Minnich scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 1:53 remaining in the contest as the host FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team eeked out a 10-9 victory over visiting King's College Saturday in Madison, NJ.

With the win FDU improved to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the Freedom Conference while King's slipped to 4-6 and 1-2.

After falling behind 2-0, King's got on the board with 5:32 left in the period when Mike DiCarlo scored unassisted. The Monarchs tied the game at 2-2 when DiCarlo scored off an assist by Cam Trick with 2:18 on the clock. The Monarchs took a 3-2 lad when Brock Johnson scored unassisted with just 0:19 remaining in the opening period.  But FDU quickly responded with a Dalton Rimmer tally with only 0:08 left on the clock as the teams enters the second period tied at 3-3.

After FDU scored two straight goals to go ahead 5-3 with 9:24 remaining in the half, King's battled back when Trick scored on a pass from Ryan Boornazian at the 8:17 mark while Boornazian scored a goal of his own with 6:11 to go to knot the game at 5-5.  King's would take a 6-5 lead into the halftime break when Evan Lawshe struck net with just 0:14 on the clock.

In the third period FDU scored twice, sandwiched around a Johnson goal for the Monarchs as the teams entered the fourth period tied at 7-7.
Lawshe gave the Monarchs a 8-7 lead with 11:08 to play, but the Devils countered with a pair of goals to recapture the lead at 9-8 with 5:56 on the clock.  King's then tied the score at 9-9 when A.J. Bungert found the back of the net with 5:20 to play.

FDU, however, responded when Minnich made good on a pass from Nick Ardolino to give the Devils a 10-9 advantage with 1:53 left.
The Monarchs had one last chance to send the game to overtime as Bungert got off a pair of shots in the closing seconds. The first went wide with 0:13 to play while the final attampt was saved by Devil keeper Conner Evans at the busser as FDU held on for the victory.

FDU outshot King's 34-30 while the Monarachs held a 35-33 edge in ground balls. King's also won 16-of-23 faceoffs but committed 24 turnovers compared to 18 for the Devils.

Johnson, Lawshe, and DiCarlo scored two goals each for King's while Trick and Boornazian added one goal and one assist apiece.  William Pokorny made nine saves in net for the Monarchs. 

King's will be off until Saturday when the Monarchs travel to Doylestown to face Delaware Valley University at 1:00 p.m.
