KING'S MEN'S LAXERS FALL AT SUSQUEHANNA 8-6SELINSGROVE — The visiting King's College men's lacrosse team was unable to make a 5-2 halftime lead standup as the Monarchs dropped an 8-6 decision to host Susquehanna University Saturday in Selinsgrove.
With the win Susquehanna improved to 3-0 while King's slipped to 1-1.
After Susquehanna took a 1-0 lead in the first quarter, the Monarchs evened the game when
Brock Johnson scored off an assist from
Evan Lawshe. King's then built a 3-1 lead when Shawn Dicket struck net and Johnson added his second score with5:05 to play in the opening stanza. After a Crusader goal, King's countered with scores from Dickey and Johnson again to take a 5-2 lead into the break.
The second half, however, proved far different as the Monarchs were unable to find the back of the net. The Crusaders took advantage and scored six unanswered goals to build a 8-5 lead with 5:31 left in the contest. King's finally hit the scoreboard with a Dickey goal with 4:33 remaining to set the final score.
Susquehanna outshot King's 44-20 and held a 36-26 advantage in ground balls. Johnson finished with three goals and one assist while Dickey added three scores. Kyle Will and Lawshe added assists for the Monarchs.
Derek Bowman made 14 saves in net for King's.
The Monarchs will be idle until Saturday when King's travels to Baltimore to play Goucher College at 1:00 p.m.
