LATE GOAL DOOMS MONARCH LAXERS AGAINST LEBANON VALLEY

WILKES-BARRE, PA --- Koty Keefer scored the game-winning goal with 2.5 seconds left to lift the Lebanon Valley College men's lacrosse team to a 10-9 victory over King's College at McCarthy Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Dutchmen improve to 4-2 with the win while King's falls to 1-4 on the season.

Even though the game was tied at nine things looked bleak for Lebanon Valley heading into the final minute of the game as King's held possession of the ball and had an 1:00 extra-man opportunity thanks to a penalty by the Dutchmen with 1:05 left. However, the Monarchs were unable to score as Brock Johnson's shot with 21 seconds left was saved by the goalkeeper. The Dutchman pushed the ball up field and called a timeout with seven seconds left. Coming out of the timeout Keefer controlled the ball on the left side of the field just outside the offensive box and drove to the left wing. His shot from the left wing with 2.5 seconds left slipped past the King's goalkeeper and just inside the right post to give the Dutchmen the victory.

King's scored the first two goals of the game in the first quarter to take an early 2-0 lead six minutes in. First Johnson found Shawn Dickey for his ninth goal of the year and then Evan Lawshe scored with 9:08 left. After Lebanon Valley scored a goal Johnson scored his first of three goals to increase the lead to 3-1 with five minutes left. The Dutchmen followed with two straight goals to tie the game at three before King's retook the lead on a goal by Brett O'Neill with 1:14 left in the quarter. Lebanon Valley was able to pull even when Klayton Garman found Brett Kudlak for the third time in the quarter with just 20 seconds left.

King's was able to take a 6-4 lead on Johnson's second goal of the game and Ryan Matusiewicz's first career goal. However Lebanon Valley responded with two goals in the last 2:02 of the half to even the score at six heading into halftime.

The Dutchmen took their first lead of the game with two straight goals to open up the second half. Johnson cut the deficit to one with his 10th goal of the season with 7:12 left in the quarter. Garman assisted Kudlak for the fourth time in the game to give Lebanon Valley a 9-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter neither team was able to score until Johnson cut the Dutchmen lead to one with 6:41 left in the game. A little over a minute later the Monarchs found the equalizer when Brian Steiger scored off an assist from Johnson.

Brock Johnson led King's with four goals and two assists while Brett O'Neill, Brian Steiger, Evan Lawshe, Ryan Matusiewicz, and Shawn Dickey had one goal each. Reilly Breig recorded an assist.
