KING'S MEN'S LAXERS FALL TO FORST-PLACE EASTERN 16-7

WILKES-BARRE -- Defending Freedom Conference men's lacrosse champion Eastern University broke open a 7-5 game midway through the third quarter by outscoring host King's College 9-2 the rest of the way as the Eagles posted a 16-7 victory Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win Eastern improved to 10-5 and 5-0 in the Freedom Conference while the Monarchs slipped to 2-10 and 1-4.

After a King's goal cut the Eagle lead to 7-5 with 7:38 left in the third quarter, Eastern responded by scoring nine straight goals to take a 16-5 lead with 5:19 remaining in the game.

Brock Johnson led King's with two gals and one assist while Brian Steiger added two goals to pace the Monarchs. Brett O'Neill contributed one goal and one assist. Nick Foley won 14-of-26 faceoffs for the Monarchs. Derek Bowman made 11 saves for the Monarchs.

Tim Lamb led Eastern with three goals and four assists while Jake Billera added two goals and three assists. Mark Buannic and Bryan Goetz chipped in with three and two goals respectively.

The Monarchs will play their home finale Wednesday night with a 7:00 p.m. matchup against Miesricordia
