JOHNSON EQUALS SCHOOL RECORDS IN MONARCHS 12-4 VICTORY

Brock Johnson equaled the school record for goals in a game with six goals to help the King's College men's lacrosse team end the 2016 season on a high note with a 12-4 victory over host Manhattanville College in the season finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon at GoValiants.com Field Purchase, N.Y.
The Monarchs finish the season with a 3-11 overall record and 2-5 mark in conference play. Manhttanville ends the season with a 4-12 overall record and 1-6 conference record.
The Valiants scored first with a goal with 11:39 left in the first quarter. Johnson scored his first two goals of the game to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead. Manhattanville was able to score with 2:21 left to even the score at two heading into the second quarter.
King's had a big second quarter as they were able to outscore the Valiants 4-0 to take a 6-2 halftime lead. Four different Monarchs scored a goal and three of the goals received assists.
Brian Steiger began the quarter with an unassisted goal with 9:29 left in the half. Then with just under five minutes left,
Brett O'Neill scored off an assist from Johnson. Johnson recorded his second assist of the quarter when
Holden Schooley scored with 2:35 left. Two minutes later
Shawn Dickey scored off an assist by O'Neill for the fourth goal of the quarter.
Johnson scored twice in the third quarter while the Valiants scored once to give King's a 8-3 lead after three quarters of play. In the fourth Johnson began the quarter with a goal with 9:40 left in the game to give King's a 9-3 lead. After the Valiants scored with just under eight minutes left the Monarchs closed out the scoring with three straight goals from
Ryan Matusiewicz, O'Neill, and Johnson to close out the game.
Brock Johnson led King's with six goals and two assists while Bret O'Neill had two goals and two assists.

Kyle Wilk recorded an assist.
Derek Bowman made 10 saves in goal for the win.
The Monarchs held a 31-26 advantage in shots and 30-20 advantage in ground balls.
Nick Foley won 11 of the 20 face-offs.
Johnson finishes the year with a school record 39 goals, breaking the previous mark of 35 set by Chris Landry in 2005. His six goals today equals the school record held by John McGuire, Chris Landry, Scott Jepsen, and Brain Steiger. His 50 points this season equals the school record that Ryan Thomas holds from the 2005 season. 35 of Thomas's points came from assists which stands as the single season assist record.
Nick Foley equaled the school record with 155 face-offs won this year that is held by Billy McCullough in the 2012 season.
