KING'S MEN'S LACROSSE OPENS SEASON WITH 23-3 VICTORY OVER KEYSTONE
LaPLUME -- Brock Johnson and Brett O'Neill scored four goals apiece and the King's College men's lacrosse team raced out to a 9-0 first quarter lead and never looked back as the Monarchs opened the 2017 season with a 23-3 victory over host Keystone College Saturday in LaPlume.
King's opened the scoring just 0:56 into the game when Shawn Dickey converted a pass from O'Neill into a 1-0 lead. Johnson then added two straight scores to push the lead to 3-0 with 11:22 to play in the first period. O'Neill later added two goals of his own to push the lead to 8-0 with at the 3:37 mark but the Monarchs added one more goal when Dickey tallied his second score on an extra-man opportunity off an assist by Mike DiCarlo.
After Keystone score 1:50 into the second quarter, the Monarchs rattled off five straight goals, two coming from Johnson, as King's took a 14-1 lead into the halftime break. The Monarchs scored four goals in the third quarter and added five more in the fourth period to walk away with the victory.

O'Neill finished the game with seven points on four goals and three assists while Johnson followed with six points on four goals and two assists. Dickey finished with three goals while Brian Steiger contributed two goals and three assists. DiCarlo tallied two goals and two assists while Ryan Matuesiewicz chipped in with two goals.
Kyle Wilk, Ryan Gorman, Holden Schooley and Caleb Cooley netted one goal each while Nick Maher and Michael Paniccia chipped in with one assist apiece. Nick Foley posted one assist and won 14-of-20 faceoffs and, along with Matusiewicz, totaled seven ground balls.
King's starting goal George Pfeiffer played the first half and allowed one goal in picking up the win. Matt Basile and Codey Prindle played the third and fourth quarters respectively and allowed one goal each. Prindle made the lobe save of the day in goal for the Monarchs.
King's will make its home debut Saturday at 1:00 PM against Susquehanna University at McCarthy Stadium.
