KING'S MEN'S LACROSSE EARNS 9-6 WIN OVER MARYWOOD
WILKES-BARRE --Brock Johnson scored four goals and handed out one assist as the King's College men's lacrosse team posted a 9-6 victory over visiting Marywood University Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win King's improved to 3-5 while Marywood fell to 4-6.
After Marywood took a 1-0 lead just 0:27 into the game, King's answered with two goals from Johnson and another by Ryan Matusiewicz to forge a 3-1 lead with at the end of the first quarter.Â
After the Pacers scored with 7:06 left in the half, Johnson scored back-to-back goals to give King's a 5-2 lead at the half.
In the third quarter each team scored two goals as Monarch goals by Jack Camp and Shawn Dickey allowed King's to enter the fourth quarter with a 7-4 lead. Â
Holden School gave King's a 8-4 lead with 7:51 remaining in the contest but Marywood answered with a goal just 0:09 later to cut the score to 8-5. Â
Camp scored his second goal of the game for the Monarchs with 5:20 to play before Marywood added the game's final score with 2:26 left.
Joining Johnson as scoring leaders was Camp who tallied two goals with an assist while Matusiewicz, Schooley, and Dickey finished with one goal each. Brett O'Neill and Nick Foley added one assist apiece. Monarch goalie Matt Basile had a big night with 17 saves.
Matt Casto led Marywood with two goals and two assists. Vinny Biancardi had nine saves in net.
Marywood outshot King's 35-34 and won 14-of-18 faceoffs. The Monarchs held a 27-25 advantage in ground balls. Â
King's will be off until Wednesday when the Monarchs host Wilkes at 7:00 PM at McCarthy Stadium.
