WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (October 20, 2018) — After dominating in the Schweikert Relays yesterday the men's and women's team continued to make a mark for their home debut against Cabrini University. The women finished against the Cavaliers 126-79 while the men 137-68. Many of King's winners today were just seconds away from holding a new pool record.
The meet began with the women's and men's 200 medley relay which also happened to be a King's victory. For the ladies,
Liz Savidge,
Kirsten Siwy,
Kaelyn Gardner and
Melina Good were able to set a great tone by clinching first place allowing
Bryce Groshardt,
Rhyce Hammaker,
Chris Dionne and
Dan Weekes to follow up with a win of their own.

Kailie Karensky and
Chris Soutter both took home second in the men's and women's 1000-yard freestyle and
Tyler Higgins grabbed third.

Freshman
Claire Coe added to her entrance as a Monarch and placed first in the 200 freestyle for King's with a time of 2:03.72 while teammate Groshardt accumulated another win in the same event finishing in 1:51.77.
Mikayla Miller and
Randill De Asis clinched the no. 3 spots in their respective race.

Senior
Melina Good and junior
Abbi Strennen landed in the top three finishers for the 50 freestyle while Weekes and Dionne were able to take first and second place for the men.

In the women's 200 individual medley Siwy finished first with 2:20.49. In second came relay-mate Savidge at 2:21.16. Hammaker placed second with 2:07.74 in the men's style and Boxter came up third with a time of 2:14.71.

Gardner completed the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.57 earning her first place. Senior
Lauren Pham wasn't far behind with a 1:07.31 and taking second. The men took all top three spots in this style beginning with Dionne at no. 1 (57.69),
Thomas Montvydas at no. 2 (58.56) and
Shawn Parrot no. 3 (59.04).

Coe also won first in the 100 free with 57.41 and Miller was able to come up at third with 59.03. Weekes with 49.50 and De Asis at 51.88 took first and third in the men's side as well.

Savidge grabbed another first-place win in the women's 100 backstroke finishing at 1:02.12 while teammate
Noelle Pederson took second place just a few behind at 1:07.35. Â Groshardt won first in the men's 100 backstroke at 56.68 and
Jason Yerger clinched second at 1:01.41.

Karensky finished third in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:57.02 while Soutter came in second in the men's with 5:05.45 and Higgins in third with 5:15.99.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Siwy displayed her title-worthy speed winning first and finishing in 1:10.49 just about two seconds from the current pool record. Boxter was the leader in the men' s race with 1:02.94 and Hammaker swam a 1:03.23 that earned him third.

In the last event of the day, King's ended just how they began, with a victory. Both men's and women's teams took the top spot. The women's team consisted of Strennen, Good, Miller and Coe while the men put in De Asis, Higgins,
John Kwasizur and Soutter.

The Monarchs will travel to Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y. next Saturday, October 27, to face the host as well as SUNY New Platz at 1:00 p.m.
