KING'S MEN'S LAXERS FALL TO SUSQUEHANNA IN SEASON OPENER

SELINSGROVE -- The King's College men's lacrosse team fell behind 5-1 after one quarter and never recovered as the Monarchs dropped their season-opener at Susquehanna University by a 17-6 count in Selinsgrove.
The Crusaders opened a 2-0 lead before Brock Johnson scored for the Monarchs with 8:20 to play in the first period. Susquehanna however, scored three straight goals in the frame to go ahead 5-1.
Susquehanna opened the scoring in the second period to push the lead to 6-1 before King's Brian Steiger stuck net to make it a 6-2 game with 11:11 remaining in the half. But the Crusaders outscored King's 5-2 over the rest of the quarter to take a 11-4 lead into the break.
The Crusaders put the game away in the third quarter by scoring all four goals over the 15-minute frame. Each team scored twice in the fourth quarter to set the final score.
Ryan Matusiewicz led King's with two goals while Johnson added one goal and one assist. Shawn Dickey, Jared Gambino and Steiger all scored once for the Monarchs while Brett O'Neill handed out two assists.
For Susquehanna, Andrew Porzio and Jake Smolokoff scored four goals apiece while Colton Dick handed out eight assists.
King's goalie Codey Prindle played the entire game and made 10 saves.
King's travels to Marywood University Wednesday for a 4:00 PM matchup.
