King's Men's Lacrosse Falls to Lycoming, 17-8

KING'S MEN'S LAXERS FALL TO LYCOMING

WILLIAMSPORT -- The host Lycoming College men's lacrosse team broke open a close game at the half by outscoring visiting King's College 12-5 over the final 30:00 of play as the Warriors walked away with a 17-8 victory Saturday in Williamsport.

With the win Lycoming improved to 3-2 while King's slipped to 1-3.

In the first half the teams were tied 3-3 when Lycoming scored two goals over the final 3:15 of the half to take a 5-3 lead into the locker room.  The Warriors then scored four of the first five goals of the third quarter to build a 9-4 lead. The Monarchs would draw no closer than five goals the rest of the game.

Brian Steiger led King's with three goals and one assist while Jared Gambino followed with two goals and one assist. Brock Johnson added one goal and one assist while Holden Schooley and Alex Martin chipped in with one goal apiece.

Nick Foley won 16-of-26 faceoffs and posted a team-high 10 ground balls. Monarch goalie Matt Basile made 10 saves in the game.

Drew Collins led Lycoming with four goals and one assist while Andrew Ream followed with three goals and one assist. Garrett Huff added three goals while Aiden Kirkendall and Shain Quigley chipped in with two goals apiece.

Lycoming outshot King's 39-33 and held a 32-29 advantage in ground balls. The Monarchs won the face-off battle 17-13.

King's will return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 PM matchup against Montclair State University.
