King's Men's Laxers Edged 11-10 by Morrisville on Late Run

MORRISVILLE MEN'S LACROSSE RALLIES PAST KING'S, 11-10

WILKES-BARRE -- The visiting Morrisville State College men's lacrosse team overcame a 10-9 deficit by scoring three goals over the final 5:48 of play, including the game-winner with 1:19 remaining as the Mustangs posted a 11-10 victory over King's College Thursday at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win Morrisville improved to 1-6 on the year while King's slipped to 2-4.

Morrisville took a 2-0 lead with 8:53 left in the first quarter on goals by Logan Peters and Nick Geswaldo.

The Monarchs scored just 0:06 later when Nick Foley on the faceoff and immediate went the length of the field and scored unassisted.

Shawn Dickey tied the game for King's on an unassisted goal with 9:35 left in the second quarter. But Trevor Jones and Zach Palin scored back-to-back for the Mustangs to go ahead 4-2 with 3:52 on the clock.

But the Monarchs trimmed the lead to 4-3 with 0:13 on the clock when Brian Steiger struck net off a pass from Brock Johnson

In the third quarter King's used two goals by Brian Steiger and one each by Shawn Dickey and Brett O'Neill to forge ahead 7-5 heading into the fourth quarter.

King's goals by Ryan Matusiewicz, Dickey, and  O'Neill gave the Monarchs a 10-8 lead with 7:31 to play. King's, however, would not score the rests of the way.

But Peters scored the final three goals unassisted for Morrisville to give the Mustangs the victory.

King's held a 43-37 advantage in shots while also leading 32-17 in ground balls. 

Steiger led King's with three goals and one assist while Dickey also had three goals. O'Neill added two goals and an assist while Brock Johnson dished out three assists. Foley set a school record by winning 19 face-offs in the game.

King's will next travel to face Bryn Athyn College Saturday at 4:00 PM.
