KING'S HAS TWO HOME GAMES TO CLOSE REGULAR SEASON

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The King's College men's lacrosse (6-6, 3-2 MAC Freedom), which currently holds the third conference playoff spot, closes the season against the two conference leaders this week. Action begins tomorrow when the Monarchs welcome second-place Misericordia to McCarthy Stadium for a 7 p.m. contest.

A win tomorrow can clinch a post-season tournament berth for the first time since 2015.

The Series
King's leads the all-time series against the Cougars, 10-6, but Misericorida has won the previous three meetings, coming away with a 14-6 victory in Dallas last season. Home field has been kinder to the Monarchs, with the team going 6-2 against the Cougars in Wilkes-Barre.

Veteran Presence
Senior captain Brock Johnson leads the Monarchs offense with 35 points on 16 goals and 19 assists. The two-time all-conference player recently set a school record 100 career goals, becoming the first King's player to reach the triple-digits mark. Fellow captain Brian Steiger currently ranks fourth on the team with 14 goals, including an exciting overtime game-winner over FDU-Florham on April 14.

Senior Shawn Dickey has scored a team-high 21 goals, while junior Brett O'Neill has tacked on 18.

On the X
Senior Nick Foley has been crucial on face-offs, going 131-221 (59.3%) in 2018. Foley won a school-record 19 face-offs and 19 ground balls against Morrisville State earlier this year. His season 89 ground balls stands as a school record and leads the conference.

In Net
Junior Matt Basile has been solid in goal for King's, earning defensive player of the week honors twice this season. The goalkeeper averages 11.75 saves per game with an 8.97 goals against average.

Scouting Misericordia
The Cougars (11-1, 4-1 MAC Freedom) are one game behind Eastern and sit at the second playoff spot. 2017 saw Misericordia winning the MAC Freedom Tournament and making it to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championships before falling to eventual national champion Salisbury.

Misericordia is coming off a three-game winning streak after downing Manhattanville, 15-13. The offense features the conference-leading scorer in Patrick Kellish (3.25 goals per game). Matthew Beck and Antonio Whyte have split time in the net and bring a 6.70 and 8.15 goals against average, respectively.

What's Next
Following the game, King's wraps up the regular season on Saturday, April 28 at home against Eastern at 1 p.m.
