LADY MONARCHS FALL AT SECOND-SEEDED COUGARS IN CONFERENCE SEMIFINAL
DALLAS, PA --- The King's College women's lacrosse team saw their season come to an end with a loss to second-seeded and host Misericordia University in the semifinal round of the MAC Freedom Tournament on Wednesday afternoon in Dallas.
The third-seeded Monarchs conclude the season with a 7-11 record. Misericordia advances to Saturday's Championship at top-seeded FDU-Florham and improves to 11-7.
Misericordia took a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes on unassisted goals by Kate Raab, Amy Roth, and Emily Connell. The Monarchs stopped the run and cut the lead to 3-1 with a free position goal from
Kendra McCoy. Raab scored her second goal of the game for the Cougars before
Amanda Carroll scored off an assist by Mark Kate Klodarska. Misericordia retaliated by outscoring the Monarchs 9-2 in the final 20 minutes of the half to take a 13-4 lead. Carroll and Klodarska scored King's two goals in the final 20 minutes.
Misericordia continued their scoring run with the first seven goals of the second half and totaled 11 straight goals total between the first and second halves. Carroll scored her third goal of the game off another assist by Klodarska with 3:45 left to bring the score to 20-5. The Cougars added another goal with 10 seconds left to set the final score.
Amanda Carroll scored three times to lead the Monarch attack while
Mary Kate Klodarska had a goal and two assists.
Kendra McCoy scored a goal and
Caitlin Butchko added an assist.
Orla Cottell made five saves in goal.
The Cougars were led by Ashley Hobbs with five goals. Kaila Quinlivn had four goals and one assist while Amy Roth scored three goals and had two assists. Tori Hodges made four saves in goal to pick up the win.
Misericordia held a 21-6 advantage in draw controls while outshooting the Monarchs 34-15.
Despite the loss the Monarchs continued the program's rise towards being considered a contender in the conference by reaching their fourth consecutive conference tournament. The team finished with the fourth-most points in program history with 275 and were just two assists shy of the point total last year's group recorded.
Anastasia Araviakis' amazing career in red and gold comes to a bitter end as she will graduate as the second-best player in program history only behind Lindsay Sabo who was announced as an inductee into the MAC Hall of Fame yesterday. Araviakis finished her career with 258 point on 183 goals and 75 assists. She is second behind Sabo in all three categories. She is also second in ground balls with 227 behind Sabo and in draw controls with 239 behind Emily Foley. She will graduate as the program record-holder in career caused turnovers with 147.

Kendra McCoy,
Sarah Almony,
Anastasia Araviakis, and
Megan O'Brien along with junior
Amanda Carroll, who played her last game due to the stringent requirements in the fourth year of being a physician assistant major, have set the groundwork for success in the future and will graduate as the most successful class in program history.
