WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 18, 2019) – Emmanuel Edoukou, Mitchell Forgash, and Justin Le Cadre each won multiple events as King's hosted the Inaugural Holiday Invitational on Wednesday and Thursday at Betzler Fields in Wilkes-Barre. The Monarchs competed against local rivals Marywood University, Misericordia University, and University of Scranton.

On the Track
100 Meter Dash
Emmanuel Edoukou ran a school and Betzler Complex record 11.02 seconds to top a field of 20 in the second of three preliminary heats. The sophomore beat his school record time of 11.06 seconds he ran on Saturday at Messiah and his complex record of 11.29 seconds he ran at the Monarch Open last year. Edoukou won easily in the final with a time of 11.12 seconds. His time is the fourth fastest in the Middle Atlantic Conference this season. Scranton's Andrew Charway had the second-best time in prelims winning the first heat in 11.25 seconds and then finished second in the final with a time of 11.39 seconds. Marywood sophomore Jefferson Fontaine finished third in the final with a time of 11.47 seconds after being the last qualifier with a time of 11.64 seconds to finish second in the third heat. Michael Dube won the heat in 11.62 seconds. Chibuikem Anyachebelu was fourth in the heat and 12th overall with a time of 12.05 seconds. James Powell continued his streak of running a career best time as he ran 12.75 seconds in the first heat. This is the fourth consecutive meet the sophomore has run a career best time.

200 Meter Dash
Emmanuel Edoukou was finally able to run faster than his career best time with a school and Betzler Complex record 22.47 seconds in the third of three heats to top the field of 10 for his second win of the day. The sophomore had run 22.82 seconds three times, including twice this year before running his record time today. He beat the previous school record of 22.81 seconds run by Mikal Butler at MACs last year and the complex record of 23.47 seconds run by Misericordia's Michael Dube at the Monarch Open last spring. His time is the third fastest in the conference this season. Scranton finished second and third as sophomore Andrew Charway ran 22.94 seconds and freshman Ian Lewis ran 23.03 seconds. Marywood senior Dejon Bennett-Monroe won the second heat and finished sixth overall with a time of 24.06 seconds while teammate AJ Antonitis defeated James Powell in the first heat with a time of 25.25 seconds. Powell ran another career best time of 27.00 seconds.

400 Meter Dash
Mitchell Forgash won his third invitational of the year with a school and complex record time of 50.00 seconds. His time is the third fastest in the MAC and beats his previous school record of 50.17 seconds from the Golden Ram Invitational and the previous complex record of 51.30 seconds run by Carl Joseph of Keystone last year at the Monarch Open. Devin Oyola of Misericordia was second with the fifth fastest MAC time this year at 50.43 seconds. Marywood senior Dejon Bennett-Monroe was third in 53.43 seconds. Randill De Asis made his season debut for the Monarchs and ran 55.80 seconds to finish fifth of eight. Kevin Wrobleski ran 58.59 seconds as the freshman looks to qualify for the decathlon at the MAC Championships.

800 Meter Run
Mitchell Forgash won his second event of the day with a time of 2:00.52 to top the field of nine. Marywood sophomore David Haines finished second in 2:01.64 after beating Forgash in the 1500 at Keystone a couple weeks ago. Misericordia junior Zachary Davis was third in 2:05.97. The Monarchs had the fifth through eighth finishers led by Daniel Michels with a career best time of 2:06.75. Michels ran four seconds faster than his previous best time. Steffen Hude, Michael Duncklee, and Matt Schoch had the top three times in the first of two heats with Hude leading the way in a season best 2:11.42 missing his career best by a second. Duncklee beat his career best by two seconds running 2:12.29 while Schoch also ran a career best time by close to five seconds in 2:15.99.

1500 Meter Run
Misericordia took home the top three spots in the field of 10 as Zachary Davis ran a time of 4:16.97 beating Christopher Sabol by nearly three seconds as the junior ran 4:19.49 to finish second. Freshman Riley Newman was third in 4:26.14. Matt Schoch finished sixth as King's top finisher with a career best time of 4:39.98. The sophomore beat his previous best time by close to two seconds. Kevin Wrobleski ran 4:44.46 while Steffen Hude crossed the line in 5:03.44.

5000 Meters
Sean Luzzi, a 2018 Misericordia graduate running for Jacuzzi Boys AC, won by 30 seconds with a complex record time of 15:51.25. He beat the previous record of 16:08.91 run by Max Greene of Scranton last April at the Monarch Open. Ethan Shane led a trio of Misericordia distance runners with the top collegiate time in the field of five at 16:21.13. Freshman Madden Doud was third in 16:25.12.

10000 Meters
On Wednesday afternoon Marywood senior Chris Golembeski was the only finisher in a career best 34:46.14 in the first 10K run at the Betzler Complex. Marywood head coach Rob Ahrens ran unattached but did not finish the race.

110 Meter Hurdles
Marywood freshman Ryan Atcavage topped the field of six in 16.68 seconds beating Misericordia senior and current complex record holder Wesley Hill who ran a full second slower than his time at last year's Monarch Open in 17.86 seconds. Bryce Steele of Misericordia was third in 18.52 seconds. Kevin Wrobleski continued his valiant effort in attempting the qualify for the decathlon with a time of 22.61 seconds.

400 Meter Hurdles
Tyler Shotto topped a field of three in 1:01.08 edging Misericordia senior Wesley Hill at the line. Hill was the top collegiate finisher in 1:01.16 beating teammate Bryce Mansfield who ran 1:05.94.

4x100 Meter Relay
The Misericordia squad of Devin Oyola, Wesley Hill, Olutobi Olugbenga, and Jarod Cipriano beat two Marywood squads and a team from Scranton with a time of 44.65 seconds. Marywood's "A" team finished second in 45.84 seconds while their "B" team was third in 49.71 seconds. Scranton's squad did not finish the race.

4x400 Meter Relay
The Misericordia quartet of Riley Newman, Olutobi Olugbenga, Devin Oyola, and Zachary Davis won in the field of three teams with a complex record time of 3:37.90. The beat the time of 3:47.95 that a Keystone squad ran last year at the Monarch Open. Marywood was second in 3:41.36 while the Monarch team of Steffen Hude, Kris Boxter, Michael Duncklee, and Randill De Asis ran 4:03.89 to finish third.
 
Field Events
High Jump
Olutobi Olugbenga broke the facility record to top the field of five with a height of 1.90 meters (6'2.75"). He topped the previous record of 1.83 meters set by Justin Stonier last year at the Monarch Open. He equaled his season best height which is tied for third in the conference. Tyler Shotto was second with the same height as Olugbenga at 1.90 meters (6'2.75") but it took Shotto one more attempt to clear that mark. Jaden Rhoden of Marywood was third with a height of 1.70 meters (5'7"). Kevin Wrobleski jumped 1.35 meters (4'5") on his second attempt to finish fifth. The freshman passed on his attempt at 1.50 meters as he looks to qualify for the decathlon at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships.

Pole Vault
Ryan Atcavage of Marywood topped the field of five with a complex record height of 4.30 meters (14'1.25"). The freshman bettered the previous record of 3.85 meters by Ethan Dionne of Eastern at the Monarch Open last April. Zachary Matson cleared 3.20 meters (10'6") to finish second. The freshman hit 3.05 meters and 3.20 meters on his first attempts before missing all three tries at 3.35 meters. Kevin Wrobleski was third with a height of 3.05 meters (10'0"). The freshman hit the mark on his first try but missed all three attempts at 3.20 meters.

Long Jump
Jaden Rhoden of Marywood won with a complex record mark of 6.63 meters (21'9") on his third attempt in the field of eight. He bettered the mark of 6.40 meters that Yaw Acheampong of Keystone jumped at the Monarch Open last year. Matthew Nelson was second with a mark of 6.05 meters (19'10.25") on his third jump of the day. He started with a mark of 5.99 meters and then jumped 5.60 meters before his best mark. He recorded jumps of 5.68 meters, 5.93 meters, and 6.00 meters on his final three attempts. Scranton sophomore Mark Merli was third with a mark of 5.72 meters (18'9.25") on his second jump. Kevin Wrobleski had a mark of 5.16 meters (16'11.25") on his second jump. He started the day at 5.07 meters and then hit 4.96 meters, 5.05 meters, 4.81 meters, and 4.64 meters on his last four jumps.

Triple Jump
Marywood freshman Jaden Rhoden won his second jumping event of the day with a mark of 12.61 meters (41'4.5") on his first attempt of the day. Ty'Shawn Hopkins of Misericordia was second in the field of four with a mark of 11.92 meters (39'1.25") on his second jump. Kris Boxter was a little bit short of the MAC qualifying mark in third place with a jump of 11.42 meters (37'5.75") on his fourth attempt. The freshman fouled on his first and last attempts and recorded marks of 11.41 meters, 11.36 meters, 11.42 meters, and 11.22 meters on his attempts in between fouls.

Shot Put
The Monarchs had three of the top four in the field of 12 as Justin Le Cadre won with a complex record throw of 13.60 meters (44'7.5") on his sixth and final attempts. The freshman beat the previous record of 12.88 meters thrown by Evan Jones of Misericordia at the Monarch Open last April. Le Cadre fouled on his second and fifth attempts while recording marks of 12.82 meters, 12.83 meters, and 12.88 meters on his other three good throws. King-Shakim Rose fouled on five of his six throws but his second toss of 12.97 meters (42'6.75") was good enough to finish second. Jones was third with a mark of 12.79 meters (41'11.5") on his second attempt. Jackie Ni was fourth with a MAC qualifying and career best toss of 12.70 meters (41'8") on his first toss of the day. After recording 12.63 meters on his second attempt, the sophomore fouled on his last four throws. Le Cadre's mark is ranked third in the conference while Ni is ranked seventh.

Discus
King's had four of the top five throwers in the field of 11 and three of the top six throws in the MAC. Justin Le Cadre bettered his school record while setting the complex record at 42.55 meters (139'7") on his fourth throw. The freshman threw further than the 42.30 meters he threw in the rain last Friday at Messiah. His mark is third in the conference. Le Cadre started with marks of 39.80 meters and 40.75 meters on his first two attempts before fouling. He finished up with marks of 40.95 meters and 39.61 meters on his last two throws. Izuchukwu Mozie had his season best toss of 42.15 meters (138'3") on his second attempt to finish second with the fourth best mark in the conference this year. Mozie started with a toss of 38.45 meters and fouled on his third attempt. He then hit 41.62 meters, 39.63 meters, and 38.98 meters on his final three tosses. King-Shakim Rose also had a season best mark to finish third with a mark of 39.96 meters (131'1") on his fourth attempt. That mark is sixth in the MAC. Rose fouled on his first attempt and sixth toss while recording marks of 39.33 meters, 37.23 meters, 39.96 meters, and 38.72 meters in between. Jackie Ni finished fifth with a toss of 35.77 meters (117'4") on his second attempt. Ni began with a toss of 33.55 meters before hitting his best mark. The sophomore fouled on his third, fourth, and sixth attempts while hitting 34.38 meters on his fifth.

Hammer
King's had three of the top four in the field of 10 on Wednesday with sophomore Jackie Ni earning the gold medal with a throw of 46.98 meters (154'1") on his fourth attempt. Ni started with marks of 45.94 meters and 44.45 meters on his first two attempts in the prelims before fouling on her third. He then hit his best mark of the day on his fourth try and fouled on his final two attempts. King-Shakim Rose was second with a season best mark of 42.23 meters (138'6") on his third toss. The freshman fouled on his first attempt and then hit 36.39 meters before recording his best throw. He fouled on his fourth attempt and then hit 37.66 meters and 39.25 meters on his last two attempts. His mark is seventh in the MAC. Jeremy Kuba of Misericordia was third with a mark of 37.07 meters (121'7") on his third attempt. Justin Le Cadre threw 36.81 meters (120'9") on his sixth attempt to finish fourth. Le Cadre fouled on his first two throws before qualifying for the final with a mark of 34.33 meters on his third throw. He then fouled on his fourth attempt but came back to record marks of 34.62 meters and 36.81 meters on his final two tosses.

Javelin
Misericordia had the top four finishers and six of the top seven in the field of 11 during Wednesday's event. Lukas Schubert-Brown won with a mark of 50.72 meters (166'5") on his first throw of the day. Five of his six throws were over 50 meters. Cougar sophomore Conall Joyce was second with a mark of 49.43 meters (162'2") on his third throw while James Lukachinsky was third with a toss of 44.86 meters (147'2") on his fifth attempt. Matt Nelson finished fifth with a mark of 39.01 meters (128'0") on his third throw. The sophomore started with marks of 35.80 meters and 38.58 meters on his first two attempts. He then threw 35.47 meters, 32.64 meters, and 34.52 meters in the finals.
 
King's will be home for another meet next Saturday as the squads host the second annual Monarch Open.
