Monarch Men's Swimming Cruises Past Lycoming On Senior Night

WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 17, 2020) -- The King's College men's swimming team honored it two seniors, Christopher Boucher and Christopher Dionne, prior to the start of Friday evening's meet at home against Lycoming College and the festivities continued into the pool as King's pulled away for a 126-61 victory in action from Scandlon Pool. 

The Monarchs started the meet with a 12-second victory in the 400 medley relay, as Jared Stephan, Kris Boxter, Joel Williams and Dionne posted a 3:47.95 to earn the victory and the 11 points. Boucher was in the pool for the first time in the 1000 freestyle, and just missed his personal best time with an 11:00.76 as he earned his first individual victory of the season. In the 200 freestyle, freshman Ryan Bixler challenged late but couldn't catch Jake Booth of Lycoming as Bixler earned four points with a 1:53.67. Sophomore Kris Boxter was third with a 1:59.01, while Alex Schwarfz was right behind him in fourth place with a 1:59.73. 

In the men's 50 yard freestyle, Dionne returned to action and earned a thrilling win as he posted a 23.10 to nip teammate Anthony Macko and his time of 23.67. The 400 IM was next for the Monarchs, and Stephan had no problems in pulling away for a win with a 4:21.03, while freshman Erik Aguero had a nice swim with a season-best 4:36.03. Boucher had another strong swim to take second in the 200 butterfly, as the senior chalked up a season-best time of 2:14.70. Schwartz picked up another win for King's with a 52.81 in the 100 freestyle, while Mack was second with a season-best 53.80. 

The 200 backstroke saw Joel Williams register a second-place finish with a dual-meet season best 2:13.17, while Andrew Johnson was third after swimming a 2:33.52. Aguero would bank another win in the men's 500 freestyle, as his strong night of swimming continued with a collegiate-best 5:11.50. Bixler was third with a 5:24.22 as well, setting a new personal-best in the event. 

Stephan earned abother decisive win in the 200 breaststroke, as he swam a collegiate-best time of 2:14.40, and the King's "A" relay of Dionne, Boxter, Macko and Schwartz earned a win in the 400 free relay with a 3:31.19. 

King's will be back in action next Saturday, January 25 at Misericordia University at 1 p.m. in road action from the Anderson Center.
